"I would love to play Boston, but if we play Cleveland, that's fine,” Rockies owner Dick Monfort told the Denver Post (http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci_7198024). "Whoever they send our way, we will play them."
Monfort’s wish, of course, stems from the contentious relationship between the Rockies and Red Sox front offices, dating back to 2005 when the Sox backed out of a deal – after agreeing to one in principle - that would have landed them Larry Bigbie in exchange for Kelly Shoppach and Adam Stern.

"I am very, very disappointed in how the Red Sox handled the situation," the Post recalls owner Charlie Monfort saying at the time. "I will talk with the commissioner (Bud Selig), believe me. World champions? If that's what it takes to be a world champion, then people are right, we may never be one, because we don't operate and treat other organizations like that."
