The numbers for the division series were very good.

They haven't released NLCS numbers yet to see how badly 2 unknown teams will do east of the Rockies.

I wonder about the game one ratings. Two unknown teams starting at a late time, and the ALCS was still being played when the game started.

All I know is that, funny or not, I'm getting sick of seeing that Frank guy during commercials on TBS.

Having the game still on at 2:40 AM in the east certainly didn't help TBS either.

I wanted to watch the ending, but fell asleep in the 10th. I was lucky, as I fell to sleep on top of my glasses and nothing happened.

He actually is a very funny comedian, sad thing is i think this show is going to ruin it for me and also make all his impressions played out and annoying. :(:

Fox ratings last night were so so

Fox 4th in Viewers but 2nd in 18-49 Demo
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2007/10/13/overnight-results-friday-1012/

Deal or No Deal won easily

NBC started the night in first with a 6.4/12 for "Deal or No Deal." CBS' "Ghost Whisperer" was second with a 5.7/10, followed by FOX's telecast of the American League Championship Series game between the Red Sox and Indians. ABC's "20/20" was fourth, while The CW's "WWE Friday Night Smackdown!" had a 2.4/4 for fifth.

At 9 p.m., the premiere of "Women's Murder Club" did a 7.3/13, handily winning the hour and taking viewers away from CBS' "Moonlight" (4.6/8) and NBC's "Friday Night Lights" (3.6/6), which both also finished behind FOX's baseball for the hour. The CW's wrestling remained stable.

CBS won the night overall with a 5.5 rating/10 share, followed closely by ABC's 5.4/10. NBC's 4.9/9 and FOX's 4.8/9 battled for third, leaving The CW in fifth with a 2.6/5.

Not to sound like an old man, but I fell asleep before the end last night too. I tried listening on my headphones in bed (I'm a fan of Dan Schulman and Buck Martinez too), but I konked out before the end.

I still haven't recovered from the Prison Break spots during the '05 playoffs. :D:

This graphic shows why MLB is insane to have the NLCS on cable only

The Top 100 programs on TV were all broadcast with the first cable only show coming in at 236 in 05-06

Game 4 of the 2005 World Series was #22

Like it or not you have to admit the effect Boston and New York have on national ratings as look at the list from 2004

Game 7 of the Bos-NYY ALCS was #3 behind the Super Bowl and Oscars

Big ratings are more from New York than from Boston. New York being the bigger city.

True to a point but the 04 Red Sox hooked baseball fans nationwide with the comeback against NYY and then winning the first series in 86 years.

White Sox never had a chance to build traction as they won easily.

In any event having your showcase on non-broadcast channels will mean you lose the chance for a big audience.

I don't know what the ratings were for the '05 World Series, and I'll never really care. All that matters is that the White Sox won.

Top-rated programs of 2005-06 in Households
22 FOX WORLD SERIES GAME 4 FOX 12.96
42 FOX WORLD SERIES GAME 2 FOX 11.06
43 FOX WORLD SERIES GAME 3 FOX 11.01
62 FOX WORLD SERIES GAME 1 FOX 9.48

So it was building after each game which always happens in the Series

First number is the ranking for the entire year....

Baseball dropped in the overall rankings because of the Winter Olympics from Italy and American Idol and Dancing With Stars.

Amen. I'm sick of hearing about ratings. I don't care if the sox have less fans than the yankees, red sox, cubs, or anyone else. The world series title isn't any more ( or less ) sweeter based on how many schlubs nationwide sat their ases in front of a tv to watch it. If any part of why you are a fan of a team is because of the size of the fan base ( or being part of a mythical "nation" of douchebags ) , we don't need you.

Missing my point....baseball doesn't get big ratings until it hits Game 6 and 7 as then is when the casusl fan tunes in. With the White Sox that never happened.

Boston was unique in 04 because of the 7 game epic with New York and people stayed with the story....that didn't happen in 03 with NYY-Marlins.

The point wasn't necessarily about your post, just aimed at general discussion about ratings of series making them more important.
