October 13, 1970 - New player personnel director Roland Hemond makes his first deal in that capacity for the club. Hemond sends John ‘Pineapple’ Matias and (now) Dr. Gail Hopkins to the Royals for Don O’Riley and Pat Kelly. Kelly, who is the brother of Browns running back LeRoy Kelly, provides speed for the ‘new look’ White Sox. A solid hitter and lead off man, Pat (now deceased) would make the All Star Team in 1973.

Yeah, I remember Pat kelly fondly: he was the lead-off hitter for us when I first started getting into baseball and the Sox. I used to emulate his batting stance as a kid (when I pretended to hit lefty) with the completely straight legged stance and the choked-up bat hold. IIRC, he passed away only about a month or so before we won the series in '05.
