Jason made his pitching debute last night for that Charlotte Knights.
He pitched a scoreless inning, and struck out 2 batters, and didn't give up a hit.

Wasn't he drafted as a shortstop?

When he was reassigned to minor league camp from ST this year they were faced with letting him go as a six year minor leaguer,or trying out his best asset, his arm.I don't know that the experiment will work, but it is worth a try.

Yesterday.
They have been talking about it since last year. I believe in high School He Pitched as well as played SS.
They Apparently were working with him on it cause he only had one at bat in 7 games this year.

Sounds like its worth a try....and not the usual everyday guy out of options knuckleball either....maybe Brooks Kieshnick should give this a shot?

Excellent....If KW can convince someone that an older prospect who couldnt cut it at SS and is trying to hang on by pitching is a viable part to a deal...then he's getting better

I recall Rooney & Farmer mentioning Dellaero during Fri.'s game and said he throws 96, but they could have been joking.

I wouldn't doubt it, they say he has a really strong arm.

I have heard a scout say that he has seen him hit low 90's from flat ground, SS to 1st. Add a mound to that, and I would guess he'd be able to hit 95+...

Give that kid a contract....sadly if he were in the NL he probably wouldnt hit that well for a pitcher, so why not give it a shot....pitching is the last option of the minor league infielder
