October 7, 2001 - Sox All Star outfielder Magglio Ordonez becomes the first player in American League history to have a season with a .300 average, 40 doubles, 30 home runs, 100 RBI’s and 25 stolen bases. His hit against the Twins goes for his 40th double and the record.

October 7, 2005 - At Fenway Park the White Sox win their first post season series of any kind since 1917 by beating Boston 5 - 3. Paul Konerko’s two run home run gives the Sox some breathing room and then pitcher Orlando Hernandez saves it. Entering into a bases loaded, no out, one run lead situation in the 6th inning, ‘El Duque’ gets two pop outs and a strike out. It was an amazing performance.

At the moment that El Duque ended that inning, I truly believed that this team could win it all.

Yup, for some reason my normally pessimistic self had no doubts from that inning on, and through the World Series.

Hocus Pocus! Remember El Duque had a similar (although a mess of his own making) performance in a one out jam in game 3's ws extra inning classic and escaped.

I was in my dorm room at Michigan Tech watching and it was getting down to the time that they stopped serving dinner. I had to book it after Hernandez nailed that down and got back in like the 8th. The only innings of the Sox postseason I missed.

That was a special moment, one for the books. El Duque earned every dollar he was paid by the White Sox with that performance in Boston.

That inning lasted forever, and I wore a path out pacing on the living room carpet. I can't say 'I knew' after that, but I did at least consider the possiblility for the first time (The AJ/Josh Paul ALCS Game 2 sealed it for me).

I seriously do not remember anything about that game except for Buehrle coming in for the save. Beyond that it is an endless blur. My brain melted that game.

My most enduring memory of that game was how un-panicky I felt when Uribe made that error on what could have been the game-ending play.

I just remember thinking to myself, "No biggie. We're still going to win."
And, sure enough, Buehrle came in and induced a pop-up (to Uribe, naturally)...

Yeah either way I screwed up many-a pizzas that night. :bandance:

Wasn't that something. I know I should have been tired, hell I went to school during the day, worked at night, had school at 9 the next day, but no part of me wanted to sleep for any second of that game. I don't think I've ever sat upright in my bed for so long without having any temptation to fall asleep especially considering my circumstances.
