some gems
What seminal pop group from the 1960s recorded a Cubs theme song?

The Beach Boys cut a track called "Here Come the Cubs" that was loosely based on their hit "Barbara Ann."

Is Bartman the most infamous Cubs fan?

No, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he wasn't even guilty of fan interference. Al Capone could be the most notorious Cubs fan ever, but he may have favored the Sox over the Cubs. Capone's rival, George "Bugs" Moran, definitely was a Cubs fan. So was bank robber John Dillinger.

So why haven't the Cubs won a World Series since 1908?

It's kind of complicated.

Thanks, but we already know all we need to know. Which, by the way, is more than they know in the first place. If they knew what we knew, they would be White Sox fans. But then if they were White Sox fans, they would not be Cub fans.

Damn, it could be 100 years of futility already if it weren't for "Merkle's boner".

Man, the D-Backs need to wake up and send these losers home. I'm glad that I don't have to read or hear that crap on a daily basis. :o:

But then the Cubs wouldn't have the distinction of winning their last World Series title in front of the smallest paying crowd in World Series history -- 6,210. Television hadn't been invented yet. Radio wouldn't broadcast the World Series for more than a decade. Seeing, or even hearing, the game meant being at the ballpark.

By contrast, the biggest paying crowd to see a World Series was in 1959, when 92,706 fans paid to see the White Sox beat the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Obviously, more people care about the White Sox.

What should you do if you catch an opponent's home run ball in the bleachers?
Throw it back onto the field, or ask security for an escort out of the park.:o:
