I have been musing on the need for a shortstop next season. It seems obvious over the last two seasons that Uribe needs to be replaced and there is nothing in the farm system. If the team refuses to pick up his option, what is the alternative? There is considerable speculation in Braves land that they are looking to move Edgar Renteria for some proven starting pitching. (Garland?) He has one year left on his contract at $6million and an option for 09 which Boston would have to buy out for $3 million. Does anyone else think this is a viable option or is my hope that my two favorite teams could help each other out sheer fantasy?
