As I posted in another thread, I'm rooting for Cleveland as the AL Central rep. The LAAAAAA (did I include enough A's to cover it?) are a very close second for me, then the Yanks. I don't think I could stomach the Red Cubs winning it again. You have to live here on the East Coast to understand.

Indians. I've been saying for a few months it will be the battle of the longest droughts in each league--Indians vs. Cubs (even though I'd like them to choke).

The AL Central is having a pretty good run--4 different playoff teams in 3 years. Could be 3 different teams winning the AL Pennant. Impressive division considering where it was in the late 90's.

To me the AL Central is like our extended family. We fight each other all year long, but at the end of the day we're all kind of the outcast division of teams that don't get the love and spotlight. So outside of the Twins, who are like the cousin that no one likes and never gets invited to weddings, I root for our division in the playoffs.

Angels could be in for some deep doo doo. Their looking at a rotation of Lackey, Weaver, Escobar, and Santana/Colon/Saunders. Escobar has been brutal lately (I should know he's on my fantasy team) and he's hurt, and Out of the the other 3 candidates Saunders might be the one to start if its on the road, if its at home I would start Dr. Jekyll.

The Angels - whether called California, Anaheim or LA - have always been one of my favorite AL teams - even when they had those horrendous Disney-fied unis.

I like Scioscia as a manager and I also like the fact he gets it done for us guys who are gifted with the knife and fork.

Can't root for the Yankees - ever. Can't root for Boston ever since they became America's sweethearts. As for Cleveland, I like Sizemore, so I could live with them, I guess.

I hate to say this, I'm actually rooting for the Indians. Three reasons:

When you condsier that the last four teams to play the Fall Classic (White Sox, Astros, Tigers, and Cards) are not in the playoffs this year, I think this is the number one reason to pull for The Tribe to get into The Series.

In fact, the Red Sox are the only team from the last four WS to be in the playoffs this year (throw the Marlins on the list).

Easily the Angels for me.

I'm voting for Armageddon.

There is no AL playoff team that I can support this year. None.

If I had to rank, in order, the AL teams I most despise, these four, along with the Twins, would comprise the "Top 5."

I don't have a problem with Boston. But I hate the foaming at the mouth of the national media induced by Red Sox success.

I truly loathe the Yankees and their fans.

I just don't like the Angels. Never have and never will.

Indians fans are classless jerks for booing Thome. Screw them.

Even though I prefer the AL, I'd have to root for the Padres, Diamondbacks or Phillies over any of the AL qualifiers.

Obviously, if the Cubs somehow manage to make the WS, I'm an AL guy all the way. :o:

I'm strictly an observer when it comes to the 2007 playoffs. I won't "root" for anyone except in the World Series when I'll "root" for whichever A.L. team wins the pennant.

If there is anything I can't stand more than an A.L. team that beats my Sox, it's the notion that those ****ing dopes who root for an N.L. team might honestly assert their league has a better team. See "Cardinals, 2006".

I'm certainly not rooting for the Indians. I'm rooting against the Indians as much as I'm rooting against the Yankees and Red Sox. The only way I'm rooting for the AL team in the World Series is if the Angels make it or the NL Central's default winner faces the AL champ.

Ran into one of those today, Cardinal fan boasting how they won WS last year(a real fluke). Im sick of teams with crappy records getting into playoffs(Cards last year,Cubs this year). Only way to alleviate this is to go with no divisions and a balanced schedule with top 4 teams in each league making playoffs.

How about doing away with both leagues and all divisions, have everybody play everybody else home and away, and having the top four (or top eight) teams make the postseason?

Or do away with the divisions and have the team with the best record in each league go to the World Series.

There is an expansion team in the National League that has never, ever finished first. Yet, the team has as many World Series titles as the National League-charter-member Cubs. To me, it's not a winning season if you don't finish first.

I've got a good friend who is from Cleveland, so I will be pulling for them despite how much I hate them. It's the lesser of 4 evils. I despise any team in any sport that plays in Boston or New York, and it seems that there is still a possibility that all baseball teams that play in those two cities. I can't stand the thought of those two cities holding up the trophy again makes me cringe. My second favorite team is the Dodgers, so that throws out LAAINSWCUSA. It's process of elimination. I hate all 4 teams, but since that is the case personal reasons win. On the NL matter, ABC.

Meh. I favor the "Commissioner's Cup" idea (or whatever PHG called it), which, as I recall, was similar in structure to the dual titles of the Premiership and the FA Cup in English soccer (one a round-robin league title, the other an all-comers knockout tournament).

But getting back to the question at hand, I'm, um, actually rooting for the Yankees:duck:. I visited NYC twice this summer, and a friend there gave my family and I tix to a game on our first trip there and took me to another on my second. Not sure if that means I don't want to be an ingrate or that I can be bribed:redneck.

I've been trying to decide this all weekend. I can't stand Cleveland after the way they treated Thome. The Angels were such whiners when we played them in 2005 that I don't like them as much as I used to. The Red Sox are too much like the Cubs. And the Yankees are the Yankees. I'd like to see ARod have a good playoff series to shut up Yankees fans some more.

I voted Yankees, but these threads have me being persuaded to root for the AL Central rep.

But if Philly gets in, I'm rooting for them all the way.

I've seen all the others win a title, and though I am not an Indians fan, I think they are entitled to finally win one. The city has supported that team since the franchise was resurrected in the mid-90's and deserves it.

Seeing a team that has never or not won a World Series title celebrate is much better to me, as a baseball fan, than watching the NYY or someone like them just use the occasion as 'putting another notch on their belts'.

So I say CLE in the AL, COL or SD in the NL, and the pennant winners going for the big prize.
