Farmer and Rooney say he only has one pitch (fastball) working.

That's gotta make it a bit easier. 3-1 Detroit. Get Rauch up.

Don't let it get out of hand. We should not be losing to this rat-ass team.

Third inning and it doesn't look like
Garland has it. Young homers and Tigers lead 3 to 1

Yea, two lead off HRs from the Tigers now. Thats whack.

I agree Garland isn't looking to slick right now.

GARLAND SUCKS! I THINK HE IS A BULLPEN LIFER... PUT RAUSCH IN THE ROTATION... MIGHT AS WELL START FROM SCRATCH.

No need to shout.

As for Barcelo. Has he even pitched this year? Maybe once? and I think he should get a shot. I mean we know Rauch is gonna start in a few days so why not save his arm for now?

Rauch won't start for at least another 5 days, and he hasn't been in a game in a week. I think he could use some p.t.

When you think about it, Garland is really lucky he has only given up 3 runs. He given up 6 hits, 2 BBs, and 2 HRs and he has only allowed 3 runs. Hes a lucky, lucky man....

BOOYAH!!!

Big Frank!!!

Man, I was starting to get nervous about this game, but JG seems to be settling down while Lima is losing it and the offense finally started to heat up...

Note to the AL - DO NOT THROW CLAYTON KNEE HIGH CENTER CUT FASTBALLS!

This is the Sox team that I remember! Boy, is it good to have Thomas around again. And Clayton is contributing! I never thought I'd see the day where Royce would actually do something productive.

Can JM please get Garland the hell outta there?

I wonder if he'll get an award before the game on Friday.

Thank god.

Get him out.

Osuna.

I'm sorry, but Jon Garland is such a f*@king marshmallow.

We get a 6-3 lead and of course he IMMEDIATELY gives most of those back. Get him out of there NOWWWWWW!

I still think Garland will get it together this year, but I am starting to think he should spend some time in the bullpen.

duke of dorwood
04-10-2002, 02:42 PM
We are just using up the bullpen in Garland starts. He has earned the right to sit.

6-pitch inning for Acevedo. Momentum on the Kitties side now.

FUBAR man.

We're leading at least.

Kilroy

Ok, sounds like OSUNA is about done now. Let's get him out before HE blows this slim lead.

mmm, those words I just ate were tasty!!

Good job by Osuna pitching out of that mess he pitched himself into...

MikeKreevich

6 to 5, top of the 7th. Osuna came in in 6th and got a pop up and a strike out and ended the Tigers rally

Why not bat Liefer for Clayton here? The guy is wasting away on the bench and we really could use this run.

KingXerxes
04-10-2002, 03:06 PM
I'm watching on "Game Channel" which is really messed up today, and I see that Alomar got thrown out at 3rd tagging up on a fly to left? Can somebody who saw this please fill me in?

Kilroy
04-10-2002, 03:07 PM
Nice job having Alomar try to tag on Clayton's deep fly. He probably woulda scored on Lofton's basehit...

04-10-2002, 03:09 PM
Well, we got one thanks to Kenny Lofton

cheeses_h_rice

Are there 2 outs or 1? Yahoo is showing 1, with 2 men on.

KingXerxes
04-10-2002, 03:11 PM
Yahoo! is totally messed up today.

I can't tell what's going on.

Nellie_Fox

Use the "gameday" play by play on the Sox website. It's actually running a bit ahead of the MLB audio feed on realplayer.

MikeKreevich

7 to 5 sox, top of 7
Lofton scored from 1st on Durham double

Was Ray being over-aggressive in trying to reach third, or was it a great defensive play?

duke of dorwood
04-10-2002, 03:19 PM
Another brainless move by the manager. Marte gave up a hit to Higgy last night, then he hits him today. Didnt help that over 20 ERA, did it.

What a shock, no control from Howry, walked on 4 pitches.

If our bullpen blows this one, I'm raiding Daver's gun shack...

Kilroy
04-10-2002, 03:25 PM
Now Howry has walks them loaded.

Thank God we're not playing a good team.

They'd have embarrased the hell out of us 3-4 innings ago.

I'm hoping that Rauch gets the call for the 8th.

Man is it any wonder that none of us are Managing a baseball team? No patience...

How do you guys watch this game when it drives you this crazy? Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint and that includes the games sometimes...

Patience...

It wouldn't drive me so crazy if, say, Jon Garland could manage a 1-2-3 inning right after we score 5 to take a 3-run lead. Or if, say, Damaso Marte didn't bean a batter followed by Bobby Howry's 4-pitch walk.

:)

04-10-2002, 03:39 PM
Hey, hey!!

Elsewhere, Robbie Alomar tied the Mets/Cubs game with a long one, and then Piazza untied it with a blast...

As a said in a different thread, Don Baylor is next up in the great Managerial Firiing Derby of 2002. He blows up a game with a fossil like Fassero in there, when Farnsworth and Osborne are on the bullpen bench. Say what you will about Manuel, but he doesn't lose games in droves like Don Baylor.
