CINCINNATI -- Major League Baseball announced on Friday that catcher Ryan Jorgensen was suspended for 50 games for violating the league's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070907&content_id=2194562&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb&partnered=rss_mlb

This is just the second player that has played at the MLB level to test positive this year for PED use (the other being Juan Salas of Tampa Bay back on May 7). Neifi Perez has been suspended this season as well but that was for stimulants, not PEDs.

There has been 14 minor league players suspended this year for testing positive for PEDs. Two additional minor league players have been suspended for violating the drug program but the substance involved has not been released. Seven other minor leaguers have been suspended for violating the drug policy for substances other than PEDs (i.e. stimulants, recreational drugs, etc.).

And now a Cubs minor leaguer is banned for a "drug of abuse" violation.
