I can't even find a game thread for the Sox game on WSI this afternoon and I can't remember the last time I found anyone in chat. But it's nice to know people are watching the Cubs game with enough interest that it has generated a thread.

Let's hijack it.

Detroit ties it up in the 9th.

Oh wait, they just won.:(:

Perfect through 4 innings and ESPN broke to the game for the 5th??? Isn't that a little premature? I believe Mark was perfect until the 5th when he walked and then picked off Sammy and ESPN didn't once break to the game, thankfully too. They always seem to have bad luck when breaking to a perfect game/no hitter, I remember in either 04/05 when Santana was no-hitting us and ESPN broke to the game and the first pitch Crazy Carl hit a little duck snort down the right field line.

If people want to admit they now care more about the Cubs losing than the Sox winning, I'm OK with that. At least it would be honest.

Broxton gives up a 3 run cookie to Soriano game over.Cards just going to have to take care of them.

Don't worry, I'm sure someone will grab the post and run with it, using it as "evidence" of a media bias.

And Dempster gives up a 3-run jack in the 9th, Dodgers up 6-4.

That just made a bummer day into a great day.I didn't klnow what i liked more ,Lous face in the dugout or the fans gasping a big sigh of dismay.

And St Louis is up 5-3 in the 4th. If things hold on the way they are now, there'll be 3 teams with 68 losses in the ALC come tomorrow morning. All it needs is a little streak by the Brewers or Cards.......

Kendall may be the worst defensive catcher in baseball right now.

An insurance run for the Dodgers on a wild pitch by Wuertz. Dodgers lead 7-4.

The real question is did they boo Dempster and trash the field again?

I wonder what the Cubs would have given up to get a Bobby Jenks for their stretch run? Not that I would ever want Jenks to be off the Sox...but I wonder if they didn't try enticing KW with something.

If they did every sports columnist in the city (including Moronotti who calls us "fickle" while Cub fans are "loyal") would have defended and understood Cubbiedom's "pain," while always excoriating Sox fans' ignorance for doing anything similar.

I sincerely doubt it. I think those mopes actually believe in Ryan Dempster as a closer. If they didn't, they would have given an opportunity to Carlos Marmol by now.

Hell, they do it now. It seemed that when stories appeared about fans
trashing the field or yelling racial slurs or such, it was chalked up to
99 years of frustration.

Remember that mope that charged Bobby Howry? Paul Sullivan described
him as a guy "wearing a Cubs jersey." Not a Cubs fan, mind you.

Who cares...that would be one of the dumbest moves KW could make. Bobby is still young, cheap as dirt, and is still showing improvement upon what he's done.

A little desperate are we? Perfect games through four innings happen all the time.

He seemed pretty resigned when the Ethier Bunny hit his home run, but there were two instances where I heard him yell "JEEZ!" (in the 7th inning when catcher Russell Martin got his single and in the 9th when Martin got another hit).
