This morning I got my replacement debit card from Bank of America that is supposed to have the Red Sox logo.....but instead it was a Yankees card.

Go to my branch

Manager says "They screwed up in Phoenix and coded Boston and New York wrong and everybody is getting the wrong team."

Then added

It is worse in Chicago...we sent all the White Sox fans Cubs cards"

I don't know how the card request process works, but I know a girl from Atlanta who just got a Falcons card which she didn't request -- and she's an animal rights activist.

It's gotta be... how ironic is it that they would mix up the main rivals in MLB so perfectly.

Friend of mine in SF who is a big Giants fan got Oakland :?:

BTW never in a billion years did I ever expect to see Bank of America issue Master Cards given that BoA invented VISA ( the old BankAmericard )

This reminds me of an old episode of 'Let's Make A Deal' when this bald guy (as in Telly Savalas bald) traded $500 cash for what was behind Curtain #3.

Imagine theguy's suprise when Monty Hall pulled back the curtain and revealed.........

Hair care products! A blow dryer, curling iron, combs and brushes, and a year supply of shampoo and conditioner!

Tell me they didn't arrange that, just like Fenway's credit card!

I should have added that BoA sent me the Red Sox card by FedEx from Arizona. If they did that for everyone no wonder the ATM fee just went to $3

Always enjoy your posts, Fenway, but I'm sorry to hear about the reason for this one.

This reminds me of a Mordacai Richler story entitled "The Sweater" (which was also made into an animated short), in which a little kid in Quebec scrimps and saves to send away for a Canadiens sweater, waits and waits for it, and when the package finally arrives...it's a Maple Leaf sweater.

I know the story well. Actually it was written by Roch Carrier in French (Le chandail de hockey) and then was converted to English by Mordacai.

It was a true story

When Carrier's Montreal Canadiens hockey sweater wears out, his mother writes to Eaton's to order a new one. Unfortunately, the company sends a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater, the Canadiens' bitter rivals. A loyal fan of Les Habitants, Carrier protests having to wear the new sweater. But his mother refuses to let her son wear the old worn out sweater and, apparently unaware of the business's traditional policy they advertised, "Goods satisfactory, or money refunded", insists that if they were to return the sweater it may offend Mr. Eaton, himself a Leafs fan. As a result, young Carrier is forced to wear the Leafs sweater to his hockey game, feeling humiliated before the other players on the ice, each proudly wearing Canadiens sweaters.

The National Film Board of Canada made this animation of the story. It is 10 minutes long but very enjoyable.
even Quebec lover Michelle will like it - maybe

I have B of A, but hardly ever use ATMs anyway...

In fact, the last time I remember using cash was to wash my clothes in the machine downstairs. Before that... I dunno. Cash is overrated.

Well I lived in Quebec one summer when I worked on a game show that Goodson-Todman decided to tape in Montreal instead of New York to cut costs (Beat The Clock with Jack Narz )

EDIT Good Gawd Youtube has a clip from those Montreal days
this was funny

Eaton's was a flashpoint for trouble as as late as 1980 Eaton employes in Montreal were FORBIDDEN to address customers in French.

Westmount at the time was the richest city in North America and you wouldn't believe the houses there and it was all Anglophone.

I went to college with one of the Eaton's and one weekend he invited a bunch of us to stay at the family cottage in the Laurentians

COTTAGE???? Place had something like 10 bedrooms
