Maybe for once NYC has the right idea

NEW YORK -- A judge ruled Tuesday that it was constitutional for the city to ban metal bats from high school baseball games.

Good. I've been hit with a liner off of a metal bat when I was pitching in HS. Luckily I didn't get hit in the face or head.

How many pitchers need to practically get killed before they ban those things?

Probably too many. The sad fact is that it's mostly about money. Wood bats end up getting pretty expensive, and a lot of HS programs can't afford them. Metal bats are expensive, but they also last for years.

What just amazes me is that people actually tried to make a U.S. Constitutional issue out of a high-school baseball equipment rule. I'm afraid I missed the part of the Constitution where I'm guaranteed the right to use the bat of my choice.

It's probably something to do with the right to choose what we buy kinda...it's a lousy arguement anyways.

I see both sides of the arguement, it's hard to buy a new piece of lumber every couple of months or so, but at the same time it's not worth seeing anyone get killed over. I personally prefer to use a wood bat but in game time I can't screw around and will take all the cheap hits a metal bat gives me.
