They can't be expecting to finish before 1:00 AM. This game will almost definitely be suspended.

I sat through the delay for 3 1/2 hours after calling a friend who said there was still more rain coming. So I decided to leave. Wife has to work in the morning. Pretty ticked that they started the game. They could have played 2 on Sunday or Monday. (Tomorrow calls for raining early on)
Now there's more rain coming inabout 15 minutes.

But as someone said... Clemens probably had a scuba diving trip scheduled so he HAD to pitch tonight.

I'd rather the Yankees make the playoffs. Their fans at least have more respect when they come here.

From the time I was a kid, I hated the Yankees. For years, they were my #1 most hated team. Then some years ago, the Twins managed to knock them into second place. Now the Red Sox have dropped them into third. I too would rather see the Yankees in the playoffs than the Red Sox. But anyone is better than those damn Twins!

When the Yankees win it all, it becomes a blur like "oh another yanks win zzzzzzz.." Obviously thats less true in New York.

Looking for somebody to blame for the Yankees-Tigers game starting at 11:06 Friday night, 4 hours and 1 minute late? Try MLB offices at 245 Park Avenue, New York, N.Y.
According to Mike Port, the head of the umpires, and crew chief Rick Reed, a memo from Major League Baseball this week instructed the umpires to do everything possible to get games played with the season coming to a close.
MLB wasn't pleased that Thursday's Red Sox-White Sox game was called after a 2 1/2-hour delay and forced the teams to play two games Friday.

MLB should shut the **** up about this, bite the bullet on interleague play, and come up with a schedule that doesn't have teams play a bunch of teams only one time in each city.

EVERY AMERICAN LEAGUE TEAM SHOULD VISIT EVERY OTHER AMERICAN LEAGUE CITY AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR.............. But what do we get?

Texas, Oakland, Boston, Baltimore, Toronto, Tampa Bay, and Seattle only came to Chicago one time.

The Sox only went to Toronto, Tampa, Baltimore, Boston, New York, and Texas once each.

I won't even count Toronto and Tampa because they have domes so there should be no rainouts obviously, but add on the SIX series against NL teams and you have SEVENTEEN series where a possible rainout can **** up the whole schedule. That's what, 1/3 of the season? This schedule is NHL bad. Can't have it both ways MLB. If you want the coin from the garbage interleague play (thanks again, casual fan), you have to put up with late season doubleheaders and games ending at 3 A.M..........

Um, what? Yankees fans are some of the biggest jag bags when they come to our park. Second only to Cubs fans in arrogance and annoyance factor in my opinion.

I guess it really depends on where you're sitting. I've had no problems from any Yankee fans that have visited Comiskey. I haven't heard any comments from them and have thought they've come here more classy than I predicted beforehand.

You're right, Yankee fans do have a lot to brag about it and boy do they ever brag about it in my experience. You are right though, Cubs fans are easily some of the most arrogant in all of baseball and have no reason to be. They view themselves as baseball royalty. Why? They have a famous old ballpark and a "proud" losing tradition that is cute.

I would've liked to have seen how MLB reacted had the Bridgeport neighboorhood had lost power like me, everyone within five miles of my house, and the 300k or so other people. Starting a game at 11:06 is the stupidist thing I ever heard. This is especially since it was the first game of a FOUR game series.

I went to a twinight DH 30 years ago that was much, much worse

Texas was at Fenway and the DH was supposed to start at 6 PM (HA)

The game started at 9:30 PM and then

RANGERS 6TH: Beniquez struck out; May was called out on
strikes; 2:22 rain delay with 1-2 count on Campaneris;
WILLOUGHBY REPLACED PAXTON (PITCHING); Campaneris made an out to
second; 0 R, 0 H, 0 E, 0 LOB. Rangers 2, Red Sox 0.

AND THEY PLAYED THE SECOND GAME starting at 1:45 AM :o:

The game ended at 4:45 in the morning.....and when I got home my girlfriend wouldn't let me in.

It wasn't until the afternoon when the Boston Evening Globe ran a column by Leigh Montville that was headline " Ladies..your men were telling the truth" that she believed me....

It was weird seeing the sun come up at a ballgame

Around 1990 I seem to recall we had an EIGHT hour rain delay at the old park one Sunday.

I remember that. It might have been the Rangers. The Sox asked them to have a makeup date later in the season in Chicago, because the only open date required the players to sign of on what would otherwise have been a violation of the CBA in terms of number of games played in a row. The Rangers refused and told the Sox they could make it up in Texas when the two teams met again. The Sox didn't want to give up home field and a paid home date, so they held the start team all day in punishment to the Rangers (or whoever it was) and in an effort to salvage the home field. It led to some bad blood between the two teams for a number of years as I recall.
