Not sure why I continue to put myself through this misery. Another loss, swept by the A's. 3-run blast by Suzuki, who I think has 4 homeruns this year. I think I need professional help.

Oh well, bring on the Mariners...

Does this count as the postgame thread?

If so, count me in for a "well, that sucked".

My wife keeps asking why I let these losses bother me so. She says I'm in a bad mood whenever the Sox lose.

Yup. I am now concentrating my energies on playing my banjo, rooting for the D'Backs (and against the dogass Twins), and looking forward to football (pro and college).

Whenever I get really depressed, I look at that 8X10 of me with the World Series trophy...and I am whole again!

We watch cause we're Sox fans. I don't know about you guys but this stings a little less since 2005. I'm crabby nonetheless.

I watch cause I'm a fan....2005 does help, and there really haven't been many losing seasons the last bunch of years....but like I said in the thread, I'm in Va and it's frustrating as heck to see the Sox have a worse record then my NL whipping boys the Nationals, despite about $70 mil more in payroll.

Ditto what others have said- we continue to watch because we're fans and we care. No need to get upset about the rest of the season- it is what it is. Enjoy what you can for the remainder of the season and look forward to the hot stove league.

....2005 does help...

Not for me it doesn't.

We could've had an amazing run. They **** themselves last season and suck this year. This is unacceptable.

2008 is a very important season.

Yes. I thought 2005 was the beginning of a string of playoff seasons. Hasn't happened. I'm sorely disappointed. We definitely should have made the playoffs in '06.

Yeah, I sort of have that empty feeling about '06. There was really no excuse.

How is 2008 very important? I doubt your loyalty rests on that season. The team is playing poorly this year, and it's certainly tougher to watch them, as opposed to recent years. I hope 2008 is better, but if it isn't, it won't be a disaster. It'll be another season.

That's not what I meant. I think 2008 is important to see in which direction this team is heading. Another **** year, could, not will, but could mean we are entering the dark ages, a time that all teams go through.

We'll see...

This is what's so disheartening about the Sox. They had a chance to really make a statement in this division and MLB. They didn't do it, and now we're back to square one.

Amen, granted we would love to see the Sox win, but let's not forget how hard it was to get to the 2005 title. You can't just flip a switch and return to the series again.

If we get Rowand back next year, we're a lock for the Series.

You watch because some memorable things could still happen in the next month-and-a-half. Also, as an above poster stated, you're a Sox fan. Even if this team was 0-119, you know you'd still be watching.

We had more chances this year. The Central sucks. Nobody is even .500 since the ASB.

"Paycheck" year for the vets.

It's funny - I think of last year and how frustrating we were and then in the end... 90 wins.

I'd kill for that this year - that'd win the division SO easy.

I really don't think we're back to square one here. We had a ton of injuries this year to critical players, which greatly influenced what we've been seeing for the vast majority of the season.

No one, aside from Ozuna I guess, is hurt now, and the offense is still bad. :whiner:

Getting swept in Oakland is so sad. I thought after 2005, and going through Anaheim in the process, that the west coast curse was over. Alas, it is back. :whiner:

It's pretty hard to do in baseball these days. The Sox like to revert back to station to station baseball.
