Tribune had lost 49 cents to $25.28 by day's end, after trading as low as $24.45 intraday -- nearly $10 off the $34-a-share price that real-estate mogul Sam Zell offered this spring to take the publisher of the Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times private via a complex arrangement involving employee ownership.
