View Full Version : I don't mean to scare anyone but...

Konerko is nowhere in the lineup tonight and Mack is starting at 1B...

Maybe I'm just all nervous now with Iguchi being dealt and the first domino falling, but I sure hope this isn't for a certain reason...

NOTE: Mods feel free to close this if you feel I have scared people for no reason

We're at the tail end of a stretch of 19 games in 18 days.

Might be a scheduled day off.

That better be it, cause it would suck to lose him and Gooch in the same day.

Rowand is day-to-day. He tweaked his shoulder playing tag with neighborhood kids. :D:

Must have ran into the fence. He even grinds while playing tag.

He reads the routes of little kids as badly as he reads fly balls it appears.

Ozzie said in the pregame that Paul has been a little off and needed the rest. Everything is fine.

If this is what is a "little off" for Paulie, then he should be a monster when he plays next week.

Arguments like this remind me of one of my least favorite sports-related arguments: the athlete saying that announcers/managers/fans can't ctiticize anything because "they never played the game."

They're both stupid, stupid arguments.

So because I haven't been president of the U.S. I can't criticize hiim? Because I have never been a cop I can't criticize the LAPD?

I agree those are very stupid arguments.

Wouldn't Anderson be like stealing these kids' ice cream, bikes, and Christmas presents?

Probably trying to get them drunk and sell them drugs.

I was at the game. I was talking to my batboy friend and I saw Paul Konerko in the dugout. He was talking to Thome after he was done working out. I was nervous too, (You know, Gooch just got traded!) My brother thought he would be gone, however. I just think he wanted/or just got a day off.

According to the lineup on Gameday, Paulie sits out again today. Cause for concern?

I just posted this in the clubhouse....but...I heard on the post game show on friday that konerko had played both ends of the DH against the tigers and has played so many days in a row, Ozzie decided to sit him on Friday and again on Sunday, he played yesterday but because of the night game followed by a day game he just needs some rest...

Rotoworld said he asked for the day off. He is just exhausted.

It does seem somewhat odd that someone who rarely has a day off is sitting out for the second time in three days, but I can see the logic there.

With tomorrow as an off day, he will end up getting 3/4 off. I am sure he will be available for PH duties today. Why not put Thome at 1B and let PK DH though?

As much as I'd rather see both Paulie and Thome in the lineup, I don't know that I'd run Thome out at 1B except in an interleague, playoff, or extreme emergency.

In addition to giving Paulie a well-deserved break, this allows the Sox to showcase Mackowiak, Dye and Pods all at the same time.

It's still a little strange...two days off prior to an off day on Monday, and just a few weeks after a three day All Star break.

The last time they put Thome at 1B, he tweaked his back. Not worth the risk.
