Odom gave up 9 walks in 5.0 innings, but Barrios actually pitched pretty well & got the save. I remember the Daily News the next day had a headline of something like "Semi-Precious Gem"

Even though Oakland was having a lot of organizational problems at the time, it's still surprising that they had only 3,400 fans attend a game in July http://www.baseball-almanac.com/box-scores/boxscore.php?boxid=197607280OAK

Nothing should surprise you when it comes to the attendance for the the Athletics. Down through the years the Phil-KC-Oakland Athletics franchise is the worst franchise in home attendance.

I've still got that Barrios card in a box in my attic.

He wasn't a bad pitcher in his time.

Weren't they only 18 months removed from a "3-peat" in World Series titles? :o:
