Just curious.

When the park was renamed why did they change from park to field? Since Field was a Cubs term and Park a Sox term it didn't make any sense.

I wasn't aware Field was a "Cubs term" and Park was a "Sox term."

Wrigley FIELD

Comiskey PARK

Yes, I understand, but I don't think anyone here was saying "U.S. Cellular FIELD? That's a CUBS term!"

Ok, maybe Hangar, but no one else.

Josh Fields is a traitor! Tell him to change his name immediately to Josh Parks. And Jerry Owens, he's not a center fielder, he's a center parker! Chan Ho Park is available, right? Maybe he can solve our pitching problems. And let's hire Dave Parker to be a bench coach!

Including "our's."

I noticed last night they called Sox Park "US Cellular Park" on Dinner: Impossible.

I'm just glad they didn't call it US Cellular Stadium. What are we, Yankee fans?!?!?!?

I actually think they did say stadium.... it sounded really strange...

I also loved the fake PA announcer that the Food Network dubbed in.

I'm sure the U.S. Cellular company marketing flacks studied this before they wrote the check: focus groups, phone surveys, Rorshach tests, and whatever else is done before a corporate decision is made.

Maybe they were afraid that "U.S. Cellular Park" would confuse people looking for a picnic ground and swingsets. Or maybe others might think it was a parking garage.

The real concern is what happens if (when?) U.S. Cellular gets bought out by some other company. The ballpark would probably change its name again since the naming-rights contract goes on for a number of years.

We should be careful what we wish for.

Actually, I stand corrected. Even though they did the fake PA announcer, they did use Hawk/DJ for the call to the bullpen.

Haha, Jeff looks like Rick Moranis in this shot. That quote always supplies me with a little chuckle.

If they tear down and replace the current Fenway Park (with the same dimensions, like the Yankees are doing), Fenway Field has a nice ring to it.

I dont think so. I think US Cellular Field is tougher to say for some reason.
