Fenway, or anyone else, what happenned to Dave Ferriss? I noticed his stats the other day. In 1945-46, he was lights out. He won 21 and 25 games respectively, but he was effectively finished by 1948. The write-up on him in Wkipedia doesn't offer much. Arm problems and asthma. Does anyone have more to the story?

From the link:
As he delivered the pitch, Ferriss felt something snap in his shoulder. He had no idea what had happened. He just knew that pain shot through his arm and then it went numb. His arm would never be the same. One of the most promising careers in baseball history was essentially over just as it was getting started.

I'm reminded of the scene in Don't Look Back, The Satchel Paige Story. In the film, Paige suffered a similiar injury. But I digress, thanks for the info, Paulwny. Of course, now I want to know more.
