Close call in Yankee land! (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2007/07/14/2007-07-14_close_call_in_yankee_land.html)

A Seattle area teacher suffered a broken neck when a raucous fan at Yankee Stadium tumbled several rows and landed on his neck - as his wife and son watched in horror.

BTW I chuckled at the back page this morning $24M Rays beat $28M Roger:tongue:

There's gotta be a way for the Yankees to help that family track down the dumb ass knucklehead that caused the incident.

they trying...the Yankees are being first class about this. As much as I hate them they always step up to the plate in cases like this

The tourist who suffered a near-fatal injury when a lout fell on him in the upper deck at Yankee Stadium - breaking the schoolteacher's neck - will fly home in style today.

Paul Robinson and his family will return home to Kirkland, Wash., in a private plane chartered by the Yankees.

Sounds like these poor people were stuck with animals behind them
"The guy who fell on this poor man was drunk out of his mind," said the fan, who requested anonymity. "He was part of a group of about 12 people that came in the third inning. They drank and smoked cigarettes and talked about hot sex the entire time. It was scary to see. This poor man goes to a game thinking he's going to have a good time and some guy who is out of control nearly kills him." :o:

There's about a 1% chance that this gesture will keep the Yankees from being sued for kagillion-bagillion dollars.

I am surprised this got out of hand the way it did. The Yankees spend a fortune on NYPD details with an officer at every exit portal. Yankees private security is like the FBI.

As a former Chicagoan, who now lives out of state, I was surprised to see how rowdy things get in the upper deck at the Cell too. I was at two games last year back to back, one downstairs and one in the upper deck. When in the upper deck the drunkeness got so out of hand the security people finally gave up and just made themselves scarce. I was pretty shocked to see this. After hearing about this incident at Yankee stadium I won't ever sit in the upper deck at the Cell again. This could happen anywhere. If the Yanks are patroling to make sure things don't get out of hand, why can't the Sox do the same? Ignorance is not bliss, it's dangerous!

Next year the Yankees and Red Sox promise him a dream baseball vacation

Robinson and his baseball-crazy family had planned to visit the Stadium, the Baseball Hall of Fame in upstate Cooperstown and then Boston's Fenway Park during their first visit to the East Coast.

I had a friend who was knocked over the railing from the upper deck at the Cell a couple of years ago during an interleague game. My buddy is pretty harmless and this drunk and dumb fan starts in on him and pushing him. During the scuffle my buddy went over the edge of the railing. If he hadnt held on and had someone help him up Lord knows what would have happened.
