That's the worst nickname in sports. :puking:

BTW, I had no idea he was already 30 years old...I thought he was 27 or 28.

For some reason, I think they might regret that signing.

I do believe that he's having a rough spot and will bounce back, but $14.25M/YR for a DH only? They did well to lock up Martinez and Grady fairly cheap and young, but come 2010 they'll be paying a ****load for those 3 and that's not counting what it's going to cost to keep Captain Cheeseburger after his contract expires next year.

I agree with you. That's too much; particularly for a team that can't even draw with a winning team.

I thought Sizemore was upset at his contract and has said that he won't sign an extension. Ditto with CC.

I know Sizemore is locked up. Happy or not, he signed his deal. And it was like 7 years too.

Sabathia - would have to check but I'm pretty sure the same.

*Edit - Sizemore (JUST LAST YEAR): http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2388456

Sabathia, I was wrong. He has no contract after this year, best I can tell.

Sizemore is signed through 2011 with a club option for 2012. The contract is heavily back-loaded as he is make $750k this season but will be making 10 times that in 2011. Basically, the Indians bought out his arbitration years.

Sabathia is signed through 2008.

With the Hafner deal done, this locks up all of the Indians' current players except for Sabathia (2008) and Blake (2007) through 2010.

Nixon is signed through 2007 (no club option)
Byrd and Borowski are signed through 2007 (2008 club option for both)
Michaels is signed through 2008 (club option for 2009)
Dellucci is signed through 2009 (no club option).

The question is will there be enough $ left over to eventually build a bullpen and a full 5 man rotation that includes an ace (of Sabathia's ilk) and go 5 deep of guys who will get you about 30 starts and 200 IP of decent ball. Lee is trending negatively and Westbrook has been hurt.

Sowers falling apart hurts. His ERA is over 5.5 in BUFFALO. Lofgren has been unimpressive in Buffalo. I'm not sold on Miller either as a front of the rotation guy - but he should slot in the middle somewhere.

Cleveland doesn't scare me much over the long term - not nearly as much as Detroit does.

So I guess the White Sox have to wait till 2013 to get Hafner.

No I think we will regret that signing because he will terrorize us until at least 2012.:whiner:

Good call. By 2013, the current roster of Sox dinosaurs will be extinct and it will be time to add some more to the roster. You can never have too many land monsters on the team.

Talked about this today at lunch with my Tribe fan friend, pointing out how dumb it is to pay "Buehrle money" for a DH who seems to get hurt now and then. His take was that it was as much to reward him for past performance as anything.

The Sox have a love affair with old Cleveland players.
