Here are the odds: Fielder 3-1, Howard 3-1, Morneau 7-1, Vlad 10-1, Mags 15-1, Pujols 13-5, and Rios+ Holliday at 10-1.

I went with Vlad and Morneau.

It's probably because of the glare.

I wondered about that. OTOH, with the game being on the West Coast, there is no ideal time to have the 'Derby. If they had waited until it got darker, that would mean having the telecast at around 10:30-11:00 EDT, which isn't practical if they want people to watch.

I like him alot. He likes to have fun and this is a fun event. From what I can tell about him, he never really has a bad word to say about anyone and he's an excellent teammate. He's a reason why I don't mind the Red Sox so much

He's a notoriously good guy, he's just having fun.

Also, does anybody else think it's time they get those kids out of the outfield? That kid almost had his nuts taken off by that Morneau line drive because he wasn't paying attention. It seems to happen every year.

They should be a certain age. A lot of those kids are way too small to be getting out in front of balls that the biggest guys in baseball are swinging out of their shoes to hit.

I'm also worried about the smaller kids getting bulldozed by a bigger kid trying to get a read on a ball.

ESPN has collected an impressive roster of annoying personalities over the years. Berman is king and Stu Scott is court jester. He was relevant in the late 80s/early 90s and has been treading water for at least a decade.

I'd like to see more of Kenny Mayne besides his goofy segments. He was great with Patrick on the big show years back.

Berman is pretty darn annoying, and I completely agree with the Kenny Mayne part. He is one of the best talents they have. Patrick was good, Olberman too political, but Mayne takes the sports/comedy combo to a new level.

Damn, I was hoping to get up early enough this morning and catch the final before breakfast. Congrats, Vlad.

But seriously, why does this take 4 hours?

Because each round each player gets 10 "outs" (anything not a home run). I was at the Home Run Derby in 2001 at Safeco and was bored out of my mind. Sitting waiting for the home runs to come really made me appreciate "small ball" that much more. Don't get me wrong, the long ball is fun, but sitting there waiting for it is boring as hell.
