It is getting painful trying to watch Julio Lugo at bat. He is now 0-33 and batting .189 and just looks completly lost at the plate.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6451 (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6451)

So over the weekend they bench him and put him in as a pinch runner and he decides on his own to steal THIRD with 2 outs and Youk at the plate. He doesn't even slide and is out by a mile ( and the catcher double pumped )

The last time somebody tried that in Boston he was traded the next day to the White Sox

This maybe the biggest free agent bust of the year

December 5, 2006
Red Sox agree to 4-year, $36 million deal with Lugo (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2687827)
The Boston Red Sox reached a preliminary agreement Tuesday with shortstop Julio Lugo that would pay him $36 million over the next four years.

The Red Sox are completly snakebitten at SS since Nomar left. They get Orlando Cabrera in the Nomar trade, elect not to keep him so they can sign Renteria, dump him to Atlanta and sign Juan Gonzalez then let him go for Lugo.

Maybe A-Rod is next?

Pressure? :dunno:

He never really was much of a player until he went to Tampa Bay. Then once he was traded to the Dodgers last year, he took a huge fall.

Big What If... Seaver doesn't get hurt in 86 he pitches Game 4 instead of Al Nipper.,

I luckily dropped him from my fantasy team three weeks ago before this all began. His stolen bases were the only reason I was keeping him around. Someone jumped on him off the waiver wire too because his fantasy ranking was artificially inflated because of the decent SB total.

Wow, I never realized that was a possibility. Even though he was at the end of his career, I have a feeling Seaver would have been at his best in the World Series.

I think Tom would be up against the Mets

Wow, I almost forgot that trade! I remember when I first heard of it. When I found out he was traded for Steve Lyons, I said: 'And.........??' Although, Al didn't pitch too bad, if I recall. I think the NYM starter that day (Ojeda??) was pretty tough on his former team.

One of Hawk's finest deals.

I think Tom would be up against the Mets

Especially after the way he left them.

The Boston record is 0-44 which is held by a White Sox Hall of Famer

Julio Lugo can join Jeff WEaver in the Baseball Prospectus Hall of Fame.

Lugo never could field, which is the most important job of a SS. Now he can't hit....it's like an $8 Mill cintron.

Another classic example of a guy who has one good year, gets a huge deal and goes back to sucking.
In a very Yankee-like move, they dropped Cabrera for Renteria, I think all of us would've kept Cabrera.
