Is anyone voting in/care about this?

Personally I think Mark should have been in the running, but since he's not I am dropping some votes for Pat Neshek and Tom Gorzelanny.

I think all Sox fans should vote for Chris Young in the NL, so Zambozo doesn't get in.

It's kinda nice to not have to spend an entire 3 days or so constantly voting for one of our players. :D:

Edit: I think I meant for that to be half teal.

Okajima is going to win the AL part by a mile...between Red Sox Nation and the Nation of Japan he can't miss

and with a 0.90 era he SHOULD win

It sure feels wierd not having anyone to vote for, unlike several of the past years when we did (and successfully too!).

yeah he's going to be tough to beat, but the latest report has Bonderman in front.

(no teal)We don't have a Sox player to vote for but we do have a player we can vote against. I suggest a "BEAT Zambrano" campaign. All of us should vote for Chris Young at least 10 times.

Don't just vote Young so Zambrano doesn't get it, vote for him, because he deserves it.

In the AL, I think Garland should be there, but he's not so I don't really care.

Agree. I've been wearing my "I Punched AJ" t-shirt to yoga class, and it makes me kind of sad to think back to this time last year. :(:

The sign in japanese that said "Vote for Okajima" behind home plate probably was worth a million votes last night as DiceK was beamed back to Japan.

It's tempting to vote Neshek just because of this, http://eteamz.active.com/patneshek/index.cfm?, particularly his post from 7/2.

I put in about 20 votes for Chris Young. Anyone have an update on how the voting's going? I'll put in some more votes if necessary but I'm not going to get crazy about it.

As the D'Backs are my favorite NL team, I dumped in some votes for Brandon, but like you, I am not going to expend the time and effort I did for AJ last year and Scotty the year before.

Besides, given my oft-expressed opinion that the All-Star Game is a big--albeit unfunny--joke, Zambozo getting in would kind of fit the theme. Although I really hope that doesn't happen, in reality, who cares?

Don't have to vote for Oswalt any more he going anyways

Atlanta's All-Star right-hander John Smoltz withdrew because of injury on Thursday and Oswalt, who finished behind the Braves' 202-game winner in the player vote, will take Smoltz's place on the NL team for the 78th All-Star Game Tuesday night at San Francisco's AT&T Park.

So a guy with fewer wins, more losses and an ERA a run and a half higher gets the nod here?

Wow.

If Chris Young doesn't end up in San Fran, it will be one of the biggest jokes in a game already filled with comedy.

Not sure if anything can top Freddie Sanchez over Hanley Ramirez.

Freddie Sanchez for Jeff Suppan really worked well for Boston

Hanley at least was lost in the trade for Beckett and Lowell so no crying there

Plus the fact Oswalt is scheduled to start Sunday probably means he'll only be available in an emergency situation.

It appears they had to pick him because he was next in the voting by players....

From all accounts Okajima and Bonderman are in a virtual dead heat.

Bonderman would be well rested for Tuesday....but I think the Japan vote will put Okajima in

looks like I jinxed Neshek; I voted for him and CYoung about 10 times an hour ago, then he goes and gives up a Hideki Matsui HR to lose the game. Whoops.

Very deserving, and thank goodness he defeated Zambrano.

The Cubune declared Zambrano "the favorite" in the voting. Um, no. Young was clearly the most deserving player on that list.

Yep. I also have to think Zambrano's antics on the mound work against him in a vote like this. The constant showing up of opponents after strikeouts and other suck "fiery behavior" (as the Trib is fond of calling it) probably irks opposing fans just as much as it gives a Sox fan hives. I'm sure there were more than a few fans who dropped some votes for Young just to keep Zambrano out.
