congrats to Rowand on his all-star pick. I was pumped when he made it, and order my jersey as soon as they said his name. We sure could use that heart and defensive on this team...

That heart would surely reduce the bullpen's ERA.

An All-Star jersey right? I would hold off on a Phillies one. He may not be there next year. Let's hope he's back here with us!

But congrats to Aaron! I'm happy for him.

Good thing we didn't pull the trigger on that Rowand for Mackowiak/Thorton deal. Where would we be without those stalwarts?

I never knew Harry Teinowitz posts here.

I see Dodger blue or Halo red in Aaron's future. Either team will give him the years and the $$$$$.

KW and JR would probably offer some 1 yr/$4million deal, with a team-held option year.

Though I sure wouldn't mind it, I doubt he's coming back here, so the Aaron Booster Club should give it a rest.

There would simply be no place for Aaron's 309/385/474 line in our stellar outfield.

Dodgers just signed Juan Pierre, and the Angels just signed Gary matthews...I don't see a fit on either team unless he moved to RF for LA Dodgers.

I'd like to see Aaron back, but I wouldn't over pay for him... he is not the be all end all of CF. I'd much rather have Hunter if they could afford him. Be nice to have an OF of Hunter, Sweeney,Fields/Anderson.

I'd like to see Hunter on the Sox if for no other reason than to stop seeing him rob so many home runs all the time.

Hunter is overrated and will be paid far more than he is worth.

I would love to have Rowand. He is better than anyone the Sox have thrown into the outfield this year. He loves Chicago and the fans so we should have a chance of getting him if we try to sign him. He's also pretty clutch.

Rowand has been tearing it up for philly. Iam just happy he made the squad he earned it and deserves it. This by no means was a bring back Rowand thread. I would pick Rowand over hunter anyday. after saying that i know i have a bias.

I'm guessing "eva" came from Hawk's "ovah" as in "this game is OVAH!"

Hmm we need a SS, a whole OF, and possibly 2b as well, not to mention the sorry bullpen.
Sure I can see Hunter or Rowand lining up to play here next year. Especially with the whole Mark thing.

Just because Rowand, Maggs, and Lee are having career years this season doesn't mean that they would of done the same in a Sox uniform.

I'm thrilled that Aaron will be in 'Fricso, but do I look at his performance as reasons not to have traded him? No, I don't.

There's a question that doesn't need to be asked. If the money was the same some Sox fans would take Rowand over any single player in the history of baseball.

Why are Sox fans so opinionated towards Rowand? It's one thing to lose interest when Sox players move on, but this whole arrogant attitude about anyone who thinks highly of Rowand is just as ridiculous as the people who think Rowand is the best CF'er in baseball.

People love Rowand because he gave 100% on the field and the Sox haven't had a viable center fielder since he left. If Anderson (or whoever) comes up and firmly entrenches himself in center, the Rowand chants will die and he'll only be known as a good player on the Sox World Series team.

I'm happy for Rowand and hope his success continues as long as he's not playing against the Sox.

I liked Rowand, too, but damn, a LOT of people on this site have been pining away for him ever since he left. You know? And we did get someone named Jim Thome in return, so the deal wasn't all bad. Yes, the trade did result in a change from the "grinder" scheme that helped get the Sox to a championship in '05 that hasn't worked out yet, and it's also true no CF has been able to provide equivilent talent since his departure, especially since Erstad keeps getting himself hurt. The Rowand deal, unfairly IMO; symbolizes the fall from glory the Sox have suffered since 10/26/05 so it's natural, I guess, for some to think getting him back will make everything OK again. I don't think so.

Can't wait to read this board if and when Mark Buerhle is traded. Not sure the teal was necessary.

Like I said, I hope Rowand tears the cover off the ball as long as he doesn't play the Sox, but come on, that trade made the Sox better (Philly was better too with Howard waiting to play). Can you imagine the present day lineup without Thome?! It would be brutal. Of course, we know that hitting was not the problem last year. If the 06 Sox pitched like the 05 Sox, we'd be toasting our back to back titles.

You are absolutely right, but don't tell that to all the Rowand fans at this site. It's not Thome's fault the middle relief can't get anybody out, Contreras is pitching like the 52-year-old he is, the leadoff guys can't stay healthy, and so on.

Yes, the middle of the lineup with Thome is old and slow. But that's not the main problem this year.

The question is how many 3-4-5 are speed demons?
