It was a classy move by Seattle. Thats the what the Sox should do for Baines, Fisk, Thomas (when he goes) and others. Thats how you connect with fans, not by forgetting about old but by bringing them back into the fold. This concept works great for Bears and Cubs.

it was classy by seattle but i don't think they were prepared for his long and windy speech. it was almost as if the mariner fans wanted him to wrap it up and you could tell mariner fans were almost emarassed for him. he gave a nice banquet speech but not right before a game. who does he think he is lou gherrig? at least if he have a harold baines day we won't have to worry about a drawn out speech. i don't think fox sports was prepared for it either.

The Sox ceremony for Ripken Jr. last summer was better. Baines really should get a nice ceremony. I think that would draw alot of fans, too.

HA! So true. Funny how put on a better ceromony for someone who never even played for the Sox. There's never been anything like that for the Sox in JR's ara .
