So, it looks like Kenny won't budge. Who's going to cheer on Mark's final start in a White Sox uniform tomorrow?

I wouldn't say final until I see on whitesox.com that he's been traded. However I'm going to record the game on my TiVo then move it to my computer just in case.

I saw yesterday that the pirates staged a walk off yesterday. I think Sox fans should do that. Like for instance once Buehrle leaves the game then all the fans should leave too. I'm not saying leave the park but leave your seats send a message to the White Sox upper management.

The last I knew, Buehrle wants to stay here, which should mean something. At least that's what he said. And I believe KW when he said he really likes Buehrle personally. I don't think he's going anywhere soon, especially since the Sox just completed a good road trip.

How about staying in the stadium and cheering on your team and leaving the cheap theatrics to the teams that have zero chance of winning or haven't won a World Series in 20- 30 years.

I think that it would be much more powerful if everyone cheered as loud as possible for Mark, and made a BUNCH of signs...both asking him to stay and telling Managment to get the deal done.

I just don't get the Sox stance here. You want to sign him to a 4 year deal to keep him around for awhile and by year 3 he will be a 10/5 guy that will have Limited no trade rights anyway. Get it done!!

The pirates who are terrible and upset with what has been done in the draft passing up Zito, Howard, and Wright, staged a walk off where in the 3rd inning the fans left their seats (were supposed to leave the park but didn't) to send a message that they're tried of being so bad.

It needed to be said, and yes I will be there with a huge sign that gives the owners a piece of my mind. If you can be there, come out and give MB one hell of an ovation, he deserves it, and the fans, if MB is on his way out of town over a NTC, deserved much, much better.

Reading an article about the Sox holding up negotiations with Buehrle over a NTC gives me the same feeling that I get when I see those Feed the Children commercials.

God I hope the Sox wake up and realize that what they are saying is stupid. Just give the man his damn NTC and shut up about it.

Fact is, even if we trade Buerhle this might not be his last start in a Sox uni...we still have another month before the trade deadline so he could get another two or three starts before we trade him. There is no doubt in my mind that once he leaves the game he is going to get a HUGE ovation and I'm sure there will be a bunch of signs showing him whose side the fans are on. But that won't really have any impact on management's stance. This organization has showed time and again taht they don't really give a rat's ass what the fan base thinks, and ya know? As irritating as that can be, it is a good thing too...because sometimes the fan base is wrong. In fact, a good chunk of the time we're wrong...but we're right about Buerhle. I really hope we get something hammered out. It seems like we're soooo close and these type of deals don't fall apart over no trade clauses. I'll be going on vacation for a little while so will be without the internet, but I hope something gets worked out. I really do.

did not like the tone of kennys statement tonite on the late sportsnite..something like '' we cannot operate with out hands tied '' in referring to the no-trade clause... sounds kind of entrenched.. I like kenny but he is going to get totally basted on this deal if it falls apart over this last item.. I know he prefers it otherwise but this one time he needs to cave.. I will be their on monday screaming my head off for MB..

The guy is going to have a NTC when he becomes a 10/5 player in the third year of the deal, just give him a NTC for the first two years. This is so silly. If a deal doesn't get worked out over this then it is because of KW and the White Sox pride and arrogance, which has hurt this team before in the past. Really there has to be a middle ground here. I can understand Kenny's logic and I can understand Mark's logic but someone here has to say "Look, fellas, let's work this out..." Unless Kenny is planning to go for a total youth movement in 2008 (which is not outside the realm of possibility and in which case I wish he'd just say so) signing MB is vital to contention. No rookie is going to be able to fill a hole that big in the rotation. And any other pitcher on the free agent market is going to cost a whole lot more that Mark Buerhle. If this deal doesn't go through, it really should be a fireable offense. JR of course will never do that, but it is beyond stupidity if this deal doesn't go through.

Just trade him then. My god, i was resigned to the fact he was gone a few weeks ago, then he was staying, now he's as good as gone again because of the NTC.

End this re-run of a soap opera we've all grown tired of seeing from sox management an move on..
And dont let this mini winning streak cloud your judgement. This team has an identity crisis and losing the face of your team because of what amounts to 2 years of a NTC is absurd.

What? You're not crazy about an outfield of Mackowiak, Terrero and Gonzalez? Somewhere there's a Triple-A team wanting its starters back.

I'm going to tape it too (but on my VCR ), just so I can see what all the reactions are, especially since I won't be able to watch the beginning of it. The Sox are going against a tough pitcher, so I mainly hope they continue to win, get close to 500 at the half-way point, and go from there. With MB and everything else.

Still, if Buerhle gets dumped for sub-par prospects over a stupid no-trade clause, I'm going to have to think pretty hard about fronting the White Sox hundreds of dollars of my hard-earned cash again next January.

I wouldn't give him a full NTC under any circumstance. That's not a smart thing to do. The Sox, fortunately, don't let players bully them into ridiculous demands. I hope they don't cave to this one.

The Cubs always grant crazy, player friendly contracts. Their favorite is the 2 year opt out on a 4 year contract, so that the team takes all the risk if the player sucks, but the player gets all the upside by being able to opt out. I can't believe our policy to not put the franchise in an unfavorable contract position would be the reason why you'd no longer buy tickets. Is the reason you buy tickets really Mark Buehrle?

I've never bought a single ticket because of any single player - ever. If we let Mark go, get two top prospects or even two draft picks, and use that 14mm to sign an OF or a IF, and bring up Gavin/Lance/Gio next year, I will 100% renew my tickets. If we bring back Mark, I will 100% renew my tickekts. I go to the games for the game of baseball, not for any individual player.

I believe a lot of people won't renew thier tickets next year, and will blame it on Mark leaving if that happens, but most of these people would have not renewed last year when they had the chance if they didn't have post-season money already sunk into it. And if the Sox were to get hot again this year or next year, make the post season, and allow people playoff/WS tickets if they sign for season tickets next year, they'd be all over it.

The Sox offer a great entertainment value for my $. I'll go to watch the team regardless of what players they have there as long as it truly appears they are trying to win. There's no freaking way you will convince me that Mark Buehrle is a requisite to winning - and that the $56-60+mm that he is going to earn couldn't be productively used for many things other than Mark if he chooses that the offer the Sox are making him, as a whole, is not good enough.

I hope they can come to some kind of agreement and get Mark signed. Hopefully I will not be watching Mark's last game in a White Sox uniform.

Don't get on the poster of this thread, the morons at the Score (You know, the flag ship station that is running ads telling people that the Sox season is over and to tune in to hear Cubs talk) are saying all morning that this will be MB's last start.

I truly hated hearing the Sox on ESPN "kiss bosox NY arse" 1000, but the Score is worse. When they can't get the story straight and run ads saying that they team the broadcast is out of it, I am done.
