I refuse to be optimistic...but some really nice wins lately.

Also...Andy G is looking damn good right now.

He is definitely doing his thing. How come he has played everywhere BUT shortstop, his supposed natural position? He can't be worse than Uribe or Cintron. Anybody got ideas?

10 games under .500. We take the next 11 we are a game over .500 and ready for a second half run. Oh man that Kool Aid taste good now.

But in more realistic news lets sign BURLY!!!

Anybody got ideas?Well, there's no doubt Uribe is playing his last games with the Sox. That being said I like Gonzalez as a super utility guy. But if the Sox somehow move Juan, I'd love to see what Andy could do on a daily basis at short.

Wow, I was expecting a signing all day and a White Sox winner broke out! This winning thing is kinda cool!

Gonzalez may now learn first base.

This game could have gotten out of hand early. It's amazing what a good starting pitcher can mean to a team, even when he's loading the bases in successive innings.

Mark Buehrle and Gary Glover were both in the starting rotation for the 2001 White Sox for a time. I'm glad Buehrle was the one who stayed, and I hope he gets many more wins in a White Sox uniform.

I wouldn't read too much into that. Right now, the Sox don't really have a backup first baseman. I don't think Andy's going to take over for PK.

I think he's a legit utility player. From what I've seen so far, he's not spectacular anywhere, but you can play him anywhere and he's not going to hurt you. Very versatile in the field and although not a great hitter, he looks like he can give you decent at-bats.

One question: Is it too late for the Sox to move to Tampa?

:supernana::supernana::supernana:

Now, I'm not making any predictions, but remember what happened when they broke out of that tailspin in 2005. Just like then, all the pressure is now off of them. Wait, it's time for my meds. :wooty:

Well that's fine...we certainly needed a better utility player. And as said above, we really don't have a backup first baseman.

He's seemed to pick up the outfield quickly, so while an outfield position is open, I say keep him out there. :dunno:

He really is! He's looking very confident out there. Hopefully Dye won't be out too much so that Mackowiak can sit and we can have a Pods/AndyG/JD outfield. That really isn't bad at all if you think of it!

Let's get our first non-two-game sweep of the season!

Richar and Bourgeois have both played pretty well this year, hopefully at least one of them can make a successful jump to the majors.

I'll partake of the kool-aid as well. A little infusion of optimism has been a long time coming.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to recall that the '83 Sox were lousy the first half and everyone was calling for LaRussa's head until they went on a tear starting in July.

Boone Logan is the unsung hero tonight. He made a good sequence of pitches to retire Crawford with two outs and two men on in the eighth inning. That was the key late-inning out we needed to preserve the lead and get the ball to Jenks. Obviously, the odds are in our favor once Jenks is on the mound with a lead in the ninth.

The Devil Rays' pitching and defense imploded in the top of the eighth. It's nice to see someone other than the White Sox do that for a change.

Have to feel good about Buehrle's comments today and then the Sox stepping up and getting him a hard-fought win. I was starting to slip into a deep depression after the Cubs series, but Buehrle signing would snap me right out of it.

Andy G is at least comparable to Pablo Ozuna, who has been greatly missed. When/if Erstad ever comes back, Mackowiak should be designated for assignment. He is practically worthless in key situations.

I agree - it was great to hear Beuhrle's comments. Having a few wins in a row was a pick-me-up regardless of who we beat. I did feel nervous for a minute last night though - my parents stopped over, and my mom said - oh the Sox are winning? Then she looked at the tv again and said - oh, there's still one more inning. That's the part that always makes me nervous anymore. :o:

Might be able to trade him - even if it is for the rights to a third grader.

On the other hand, he is practically worthless in ALL situations.

Wow we really are starting to look like a winning baseball team! Let's go for the sweep, boys and keep it going! Andy's looking good, he's a nice addition to the team. :gulp:to Pods for stretching a double into a triple! Keep Pods in the lineup every day, Ozzie! Buehrle was questionable for awhile there, but he got himself out of a few jams. That's a sign of a good pitcher!

I agree. This is not just for you, but for everyone here at WSI, remember Pablo Ozuna. He is gone now, but in 2008, he could be a key player.

I have been a long time critic of Boone Logan but I have to admit, he is winning me over in that "lefty specialist" role. I think we may have found ourselves a new Kelly Wunsch. Someone who is nasty to lefty batters (lefties have a .150 avg off him). As long as Ozzie doesn't let him face right handers (who hit .350 off him) then I think Boone might be a cog in this bullpen worth keeping.

If the Sox can string 9 of 10 or 12 of 14 together, I'll take a nice large frosty pint of the kool-aid. Until then, I'll just sit back and enjoy our first winning streak in what seemed like an eternity.
