Sean Lowe was anything but stellar yesterday. In 2/3 of an inning, 1 Hit, 2 Earned Runs, 1 Walk, 2 K's.

ERA now at 27.00

I thought that too. But take a closer look:

NY METS 7TH
-Bottom of the 7th inning
-R Alomar grounded out to shortstop.
-M Vaughn grounded out to first.
-M Piazza walked.
-S Lowe relieved J Beimel.
-E Alfonzo struck out swinging.

NY METS 8TH
-Bottom of the 8th inning
-J Burnitz struck out looking.
-J Payton walked.
-R Ordonez singled to center, J Payton to second.
-M Johnson hit for D Weathers.
-S Sauerbeck relieved S Lowe.
-J Valentin hit for M Johnson.
-J Payton to third, R Ordonez to second on wild pitch by S Sauerbeck.
-J Valentin struck out swinging.
-R Cedeno walked.
-R Alomar singled to shallow right center, J Payton and R Ordonez scored, R Cedeno to third.
-M Vaughn struck out swinging.

So basically, Sean came in, K'd a guy to end the inning, then in the next inning, K'd another guy and gave up a walk and a single. Then he gets relieved by Sauerbeck who comes in and makes a big mess and allowes the 2 inherited runners to score. I have no idea why they put him in so late in the game and for such a short time. Don't they have any other short relievers? You would think they would save Sean for long relief...

Speaking of ex-Sox players, Singleton went ofer 5 yesterday. We had a guy that went ofer yesterday too...
