View Full Version : Ode to the Fallen

The silence is defeaning, the warmth still remains
the flags fly unfurling, but its just not the same
The day, after the sadness still grows
What the future presents, nobody knows.

Once the smell of a no hitter, no longer exists
For the White Sox of 07, have all hit the skids
Once great hopes on april the 1 dashed
No longer around, no meaning no flash

The 05 champion banner, still flys in left field
but no hitting, no bullpen, only time for many deals
The Kosher/ Onion grills, scrubbed and sitting alone
Waiting for the next homestand, but no white sox on the throne

Sox fans heart's snapped, on an obstruction play
Will they return, to the cell, who's to say?
I assume plenty of seats will be avail
But Sox fans will show, without emotional sails

Just another ballpark, in summers great haze
No triumph, will be rendered, No smile from Fisk's statue gaze
For the Whitesox are dead, oh how the team will pay
No joy in southside, just digging more holes to lay

Sad sad day this monday june two five
The champs are forgotton, The cubs chances still alive
As workmen sweep up the concourse
In the bright june sun, the southsiders are done

Talk of years of domination, once echoed thru this hall
only to be stabbed by three soriano dingers, sox fans each together alone
Yes some brave fans, will show up and cheer
But true true diehards, each contemplating life, thru each glass of beer

No more fun in this 07th season
For the Sox have died quickly, its obvious the reason
but by decades end, the jubilation will be back
The sox mighty heart will lead an undeniable attack

Fore This is a good thing, a cold slap in the face
In given time the Sox beast, will be back in the race
The team let us down, and we will recover
For we are Sox fans, unlike no others.

Looking out at the field, it has had its majestic glory
But future books will be written, every fan their new storys
Of how desparity, turned to prosperity in a few chosen days
Lots of sleepless nights, but the greatest reality of all
The Championship banner, at the Cell, will once again WAVE.
