The Brooklyn Dodgers haven't been Brooklyn's Dodgers for 50 years. Saturday marked only the second time the Los Angeles Dodgers, as a team, have worn B for Brooklyn on their caps and Brooklyn on their jerseys.
Duke wore his No. 4.
Carl Erskine wore No. 17

The team knew they got the unis wrong, but they wanted to emphasize the Brooklyn part rather tahn the Dodgers...on that note, even though it made a lot of sense, they NEVER should have left Brooklyn. My grandfater lived in Brooklyn when he first came over from Ireland and was a huge Dodgers fan, once they left, he left and became a White Sox fan. He's never forgiven Walter O'Malley. A LOT of people in Brooklyn haven't either.

Fenway:

This is discussed on Paul Lukas' Uniwatch (http://www.uniwatchblog.com/?p=532) blog.

This is from Jerry Cohen, owner of Ebbets Field Flannels, the company who produced the jerseys.

“We pretty much made sure the teams would have to have stirrups (didn’t give ’em a choice). Also, we know perfectly well that the Dodgers didn’t wear ‘Brooklyn’ in ’55 (http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/exhibits/online_exhibits/dressed_to_the_nines/detail_page.asp?fileName=nl_1955_brooklyn.gif&Entryid=875), but they wanted specifically to celebrate Brooklyn, so we did it that way."

That's understandable. Plus, it isn't like those uniforms are completely inaccurate, since they last wore "Brooklyn" on their road jerseys in 1945.

It would be nice to see them play an exhibition game, perhaps the last game of spring training, in Brooklyn. They could play the minor league Brooklyn Cyclones in their home park.

The Dodgers would be booed mercilessly. People there STILL haven't forgotten.
