One thing I've noticed..is even though the Sox are still losing...they are not losing 'as bad'....have you noticed the losses the last few weeks aren't blowouts anymore? We lost 5 to 4 yesterday and 7 to 5 Tuesday...and 8 to 7 Sunday.

Before we were getting blown out.

Maybe..the White Sox don't want to 'shock us' and are trying to ease us back into the win column. Sort of like how you don't jump into a cold swimming pool win you've been in 90 degree heat...but instead dunk you toe..then your foot and then dive in.

I think the Sox are trying to gradually..start winning again.

You're crazy. Season's over. No, they won't start winning. They're a bad team.

Do they award World Series championships based on "almost" wins?

Did you overhear Kenny Williams talking about the closer margins of defeat at the Phoenix airport?

Maybe at this rate we'll win two games in a row before the AS Break?!?!

Oh well, I can dream anyway.

Closer losses = pythagorean wins. I think we can all take heart in that.

CLR has a very detailed chart describing this theory.

Good teams find ways to win close games, bad teams find ways to lose the close ones.

Do they award World Series championships based on "almost" wins?

I think Baseball Prospectus does.

You are right. Instead of giving up seven or eight runs after the 7th inning to lose 10-3, they are now only giving up two or three in that time frame to lose 6-5!

If I'm ever in a foxhole and our position is getting overrun by the enemy and we are facing immediate death...then I may appreciate the optimism.
