View Full Version : Over .500

I feel because the hitting slump may be over that we can be over .500 by the all star break. 2-0 vs Marlins, 2-1 vs Cubs, 3-1 vs Tampa, 2-1 vs Royals,
3-1 vs Orioles, and 2-1 vs Twins. Thats a 14-5 record in the next 19 games and will put us 1 game over. With Pods coming back soon I think this is do-able. If we get to .500 anything is possible in the 2nd half. The Tribe and Twinkies proved that the last 2 years.

I'd like to share in your optimism. But I'm gonna need to see this offense put up numbers against good teams and good pitchers. Not guys making their first start of the year after injury.

If they can do it for a few games here, I will be optimistic about a turn around.

You can't call yourself a contender if you're under .500. We need to rattle off a stretch where we win 11 out of 12 or something like that. If that happens, then I will dare to dream.

The question is where Crystal Tree Country Club, Bolingbrook possibly Park Ridge. A real treat would be to have the opportunity to wave Danks up on the 6th hole Par 3 at Tam.

The Sox would have to go 63-33 to even think about the wildcard. Obviously, with this offense and bullpen it's not going to happen.

I'd just like to see the young players do well. Getting to .500 means nothing to me. Either you make the playoffs or you don't.

Nice theory. Wrong team. It's not just the hitting. This is a terrible team in every aspect (except the starters, who are still throwing way too many pitches).

Don't you think the teams you mention above are licking their chops over seeing the Sox on their schedules.
How'd we do vs. Hou, Phl and Pit?

They have had a couple good hitting games. Everytime they win a game there is a thread started about we are getting out of our slump. I would like to drink your kool-aid.

I MAY get excited when the Sox actually win two games in a row...

Dude, that's only a .650 win%. Believe. The forecast for Chicago this week is White Sox Thunder. They bringin' the pain down.

I'll be generous and say they'll go 12-8 from here to the break. 41-45.

Once they get the man Scotty Pods back this thing is over. He's good for 50-60 wins on his own. Ersty adds another 175.

Considering how lousy the Marlins' pitching staff is, you could be right. A few more nights of batting practice might get them believing in themselves again. We shall see.

When our everyday lineup includes A-Rod, Jeter, Posada, Abreu, Damon, Cano, and Matsui, instead of Fields, Owens, Sweeney, Terrero, Mackowiak then I'll consider that a reasonable comparison.

Oh my God, we've won ONE game and now we're talking playoffs? Look, let's get the win tonight and then think about tommorrow's game. The most important game for the White Sox right now is the next one.

They really need to put together a run. Like, oh, 16 out of 20 and 30 out of 40, something like that.

Without that, they would need to spank the Tigers, Twins and Indians when divisional play resumes. By spank, I mean win half the series and sweep the other half. Doable, but unlikely.

The Milwaukee Brewers are the only contender in that division. Until proven otherwise, it's a one-team race.

It's not going to happen. I'm sorry. I think that this team can get hot again and maybe make a run where they wind up being five games out and start causing head aches for the Tigers and Indians, but I think that is realistically as close as this team will come. This team ain't making the playoffs.
