If I want to hire somebody to turn my franchise around I certainly wouldn't hire anybody from the Cubs.

I guess the thinking goes "he won in Minnesota, he was doomed going to the Cubs, now that he's out, maybe he can win again."

Also, as MacPhail has been bandied about as the next commissioner after Bud leaves, might not be bad thinking by Angelos to try and get in tight with him.

And now the wings will really come off of the Orioles.

It's strange thinking, much like Piniella when he took the job. He was talking about wanting to come to an organization that wants to win. So look who he picked.

The last time his team won, Teddy Roosevelt was in the White House. Ol' Andy is part of that winning tradition.

Good luck, O's. You're gonna need it. His first move will be to hire Dusty Baker as manager. Since it worked so well in Chicago.
