The Sox are on the pace to go 69-93. How many wins will they wind up with?

I don't think they are as bad as they are playing right now (no team is this bad). The offense will likely improve and so will the bullpen. The variables are the trades that may be forthcoming. That said, I think they can win between 70 and 79 games.

How many wins do they have now? That's how many they will win.

Unless KW trades for Rowand, and puts him in the OF with Erstad and Pods. Then they will win all the rest of their games.

Right now, I'll guess 78.

I think a late win streak will be too little too late for something like 79 or 80 wins.

Right now, BP's prediction of 72 is looking like more of a reality. Maybe we should always trust them from now on.

Not very many.

They are probably just sitting with their arms crossed saying "Yes, we told them so." They had no way of knowing that the entire lineup would suck, Thome, Crede, Pods, and all others would be injured. And hell, even the bullpen looked good at the beginning. Unless they used some prophetic sabermetric stat that they used to predict all of this.

They made a similar prediction in 2005.

Barring a white-flag trade, this team should rebound at some point and put up some wins. I say about 83 wins.

With Podsednik, Erstad and Thome all healthy, hopefully Ozzie will relegate Mack and Cintron to the bench and we'll finally see more consistency in the lineup.

Konerko, Dye, A.J., Iguchi, Uribe can't hit this far below their career averages for the whole season....

and MacDougal and Aardsma can't be that bad, can they?

Maybe it's unrealistic to predict winning baseball without much of a bullpen, but I don't think this season is over.

It's just hard for me to believe that a team that won so much in the past 2+ years, and is still getting solid starting pitching, suddenly cannot win a game. The Sox have little to no chance of making the playoffs, but they odds that they continue to play as poorly as they have beeen are also low.

I hate to say, they kind of did. That whole player age, career number, projectttttttttttttttt... oh, sorry fell asleep. I enjoy some of the saberstuff, but like all predictions they have such a high probability factor that to believe all that the computer spits out as gospel is just silly. The really annoying thing is the arrogance of the real hardcore saberheads. It's just so much fun when their completely wrong, ala 2005.

75 and that's a gift.

This is the worst team in the AL.

Seriously, ****ing pathetic and heartbreaking.

This team would suck in the NL. We're gonna have to fight to win 70.

I'm trying to be optimistic, but I'll say 82 just to finish the year above .500

Woo hoo we're now tied for wins with the Royals! When are we going to start removing the bums that selected the bullpen and lineup for this joke of a major league team?

Somehow, I see this team catching fire in August and finishing with 83 or 84 wins. Certainly not playoff bound in the AL Central, but at least it's a winning season.

I see them getting on a bit of a roll too. But too little too late.

Might have something to do with Erstad & Podsednik returning and changing the tactics of the team.

I hope we finish over .500 but right now that looks really iffy.

70 wins seems more likely.

Prove me wrongs guys, PLEASE!!!!

I don't know. Does June have 50 days in it?

Right now even 76 wins sounds good. I feel like a Royals fan now.

If this skid goes much longer just coming at .500 will be a major accomplishment.

I'll trust BP's predictions about the same time Duke alumni invite Mike Nifong to a fundraising dinner!

Remember that Seinfeld where George said this:
"I cannot envision any circumstance in which Iíll ever have the opportunity to have sex again. Howís it gonna happen? I just donít see how it could occur."

That's how I feel about the White Sox and winning games. I just can't envision any circumstance where we will both get and hold a lead. I just don't see how it could occur.

Of course even though this season feels like that, I picked in the 80s.

Wishful thinking, yeah, but I can't fathom a losing season for the sox. better be at or above .500.
