The Tigers have suspended Roman Colon for seven days after he got into a physical altercation with teammates in the Triple-A Toledo clubhouse.

Colon, a right-hander currently on a rehab assignment at Toledo, suffered a left shoulder contusion during the fight. This hurts his chances of joining Detroit's bullpen later this month.

You don't give him a slap on the wrist - you penalize him. Smart move for the Tigers.

If a player has any value to the team, he doesn't get suspended. He usually gets traded. If he's expendable and has not trade value, he might be released. If he's a star, his team might look the other way, if it wasn't entertaining blockbuster trade offers.

The fight was a pretext for Ramon Colon's suspension. Because it happened in the minor leagues, he major league players union can't file any sort of a grievance.

If Verlander got in a fight with Sheffield, no one would get suspended.

And if it were Maggs there would be no suspension. The player he fought with would probably be demoted.
