The sea gull population that has been attending games at Detroit's Comerica Park in recent days appears to be declining, and the Tigers said Wednesday that they think the worst is over.

Seems their food supply is diminishing.

The cause of the seagulls was an abnormally high number of moths in the area, so the food supply theory makes sense.

I still remember this fiasco;

From MSNBC:
In 1983, Dave Winfield, then with the New York Yankees (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13188701/#), threw a ball that hit a seagull at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto. Winfield was charged with cruelty to animals, a charge that was dropped the next day.

There were 3 seagulls flying around today before the game. Then some firework type things flew out from one of the suites and chased them away. there was one hanging around. I didn't notice any after that.

They said that on Thursday or Friday a moth batch or whatever they're called hatched somewhere near the stadium and that attracted them. Then with the night game on Friday they were attracted to the lights.

Ted Williams used to shoot them from the dugout. Of course he'd be arrested today.

Yep. Didn't Dave Winfield get arrested after a ball he threw in warmups killed a gull there one year?

My dad was on a business trip and saw this incident in person that night.

Here in Chicago, the seagulls have been feasting on the cicadas, especially in Beverly.
