They said during the broadcast yesterday that Thome would be playing 1B today...why in the hell would they choose to start him against Cole Hamels when Thome struggles against lefties? Shouldn't they have started him against Eaton or the rookie going tomorrow and use him as a PH today?

I think it's probably because at this point Thome against lefties > Konerko anytime.

I think Thome's starting the Wednesday afternoon game; not tonight.

So what's the over/under on Thome hurting himself while attempting to scoop a throw?

Maybe that shouldn't be in teal, this year.

Yeah, Ozzie said he'd play wed over the weekend so I doubt we'll see him today.

He's 11-25 in his last week or so.

Konerko is hitting .324 with a .995 OPS in June. He finished up May strong, hitting .366 with 2 HRs over the last 11 games of May. And the one thing Konerko has done well this year is hit lefties. He's hitting .313 with a .951 OPS against lefties and only .224 with a .701 OPS against righties.

Meanwhile, Thome is hitting .162 with a .604 OPS against lefties.

This decision by Ozzie is just completely backwards of how it should be. :?:

What decision? Thome is supposed to be playing 1B on Wednesday while the Phillies call up a righty in place of Garcia.

MLB.com has David Aardsma starting that Wednesday game for the Sox under probables. Chew on that for a while. :D:

Yeah, I kind of missed the posts refuting the original one stating that Thome would play vs Hamels.

Konerko has been sucking lately. That 3-for-4 performance on Sunday was terrible.

Good. After the weight of the world was lifted off his shoulders with the dropped murder charges he's going to be a stud :D:
