Good to FINALLY get a win on a Sunday. Or a win, period.

Anytime a Sox pitcher surrenders an unintentional four-pitch walk, Ozzie ought to have that pitcher run laps around the park after the game.

At least one lap for each pitch, and really, the laps should be OUTSIDE the park, let them REALLY get a workout AND get the jeers of the crowd.

Man, FINALLY get off the mat, Sox. Glad to see ALL of the runs weren't off the homer (although I'll take them any way we can get 'em at this point.)

How about a compromise: laps around the concourse?

No! Laps around the Chicago city limits!

Concourse if the walk doesn't produce a run, if it produces a run? Have the pitcher dress in Captain Hand's outfit from the most recent Palehose 7. Lei, grass skirt, and barefoot.

:D:

Hard to be aggravated with the bullpen after finally getting a win.

Great job to Mark, awesome milestone. Now he just has to do it two more times (hopefully with more support than he's had this year).

The offense scored some runs, the bullpen continues to be laughable, and again Jenks has to save the day.

Still, a win is a win. As long as we continue to score 5 runs or more every game, the starters stay solid and work no less than 8 innings, and Jenks is the only member of the bullpen to ever touch the baseball, we still should be able to squeak out 95 wins.

I want this team to dig itself out of this hole more than anything. We are 7.5 back in the Wildcard (with eight teams to catch) and 9.5 in the division. I want some heart and for this bullpen to throw strikes even if that means getting beat sometimes.

Let's win one tommorow and start...what's it called....a winning streak.

I don't care where they do the laps for the unintentional four-pitch walks. All I care is that they run until they puke.

Not "throw up a little in the back of my mouth" puke.

No, it needs to be projectile vomiting of the last week's worth of food intake, plus bile by the liter.

They need to learn that it is never, ever acceptable to issue four-pitch walks. They need to hate the punishment so much that they never again surrender four-pitch free passes.

Now would be a great time to go on a winning streak,
to paraphrase many others who echo that sentiment
on this thread.

Memo to Sox bullpen (excluding Jenks):

Anyone else have Hawk's voice stuck in their head with his

"Mark BUEHRLE!!" that he yelled after Mark threw his no-no?

Man, do I feel a whole lot better with at least one win this weekend under the Sox belts.

The way the Sox have been playing, the crowds haven't had a reason to get rowdy about anything.

Back to back wins tomorrow would certainly be welcome. We haven't had back to back wins since way back in the series vs. Oakland at home May 21st and 22nd.:o:

The Sox win with me in attendance for the first time since May 11. My season record improves to 3-8. The common denominator in the three wins: Mark Buerhle. Congrats on win No. 100. Good performances by Konerko and Terrero. The home runs are great, but I like the two-out RBI singles that those two delivered. Big hits right there. Disappointed we had to go to our closer to save the game after taking a five-run lead into the ninth. Jenks did a good job of putting out the fire, but we should not have had to bring him in today. Just throw strikes, for crying out loud!

Sounds like a good win today except for the usual suspects *cough* pen. Let's get some momentum built in Penn. The Phillies have been playing really well over the last month, and the Pirates, well, suck.

Nice; all except for the pathetic bullpen.

This bullpen is beyond scary. One could not write a script for a worse bullpen. Day and Logan really need to be worked. Unintentional walks, on four pitches none the less, is unacceptable.

It was so nice to see Mark break that 100 win ceiling. Congrats to him! :bandance:

Ozzie says repeatedly that pitchers who aren't aggressively throwing strikes will face consequences. Don't these guys get the message or are they just that bad?

Logan has quietly been getting the job done ever since the slam to Lee. Since then he has gone:

9.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K

Aside from the Yankee game, he has been pretty solid.

Way to go Mark! The bull pen except Jenks continues to be scarey. Now on to Philly. We have to be in Atlantic City for family visit so we are going to the Wednesday game in Philly. We need a run of wins.

I agree. Prior to today, Logan has quietly settled down and has been doing a good job. I think it'll take him a long time to live down his disastrous debut with us last season.

Hopefully today's pathetic job by Logan will not be the norm. I don't know - after Day's performance, everyone seemed rattled. Even Jenks looked wild against the first batter he faced. Luckily, he has the mental toughness to shut out the boo-birds in his mind and shut down another potential meltdown.

The road to .500 begins today!

I'm glad about the win, but oy vey! the pen! I couldn't take it and fast forwarded to the end of the game just to get it over with in the case of more frustration. I hope we get another 100 wins from Mark:smile:

Logan is like the guy I love to hate. Just when he gets out of my doghouse, he has a bad performance like yesterday. Like all of our bullpen guys, he has bouts of control problems. Our bullpen is so bad that Logan actually is one of the more reliable setup men we can go to.:o: He has a very nice curveball that fools left handed but not right handed batters. I think he should be used exclusively as a lefty specialist a la Kelly Wunsch. Right handers are hitting a whopping .350 against him while lefties hit only .148. Pretty big disparity there.

I really had fun at the game yesterday. It was nice to see the offense and defense peform well and Mark's pitching was stellar.

I saw a lot of people leaving after the end of the 8th and I was wondering why because the game was by no means in the bag with the bullpen performances we've been getting lately. I was about to tear my hair out when they starting walking everybody who came to the plate. I mean the batters never had to take the bat off their shoulders. I was asking myself if our relief pitchers are accepting payoffs from the other teams. Sheesh!!!

Nevertheless, I was extremlely happy to be there to see Mark get his very well deserved 100th win. I'm still very optimistic that this team can turn it around and start winning series again. The talent is there and there shouldn't be much bad luck left now.
