From what direction is the wind coming?

EDIT: Trib says SSW. So straight from right to left.

Turning due South by 6. So they are saying. I was out there once where they cleared the concourse as storms came roaring in. I guarantee if these winds come in like they are saying with these storms lining up they might clear the UD as well.

Ought to get one into the outfield tonight. Normally, that would be teal, but this offense is anything but normal.

Great, more lousy weather when the Sox play at home.

Sox light up Mussina, 6 runs in the first 2 innings, the monsoon hits, game washed out. It's one of those years.

Well, thanks to new rules, games aren't "washed out", they're continued at a later date.

I will be watching the hail fall and lightning crash from the comfort of the giant terrace suite in left field.

That's the only section I have never sat in. Any good out there? Isn't that called the Miller terrace or something?

With those winds maybe I should sit Jose on my fantasy team tonight. A pop out to the catcher could carry over the fence. :?:

What would usually be a HR to right could be an infield pop-up, too, if the wind is blowing R to L.

I think they should just call it a rain out now.

Damn Sox fans pressuring the club to cancel. What are they thinking scheduling a game against the NBA Finals and US soccer anyways?

I seriously wonder when they'd re-schedule this one for! They already took one of our later "off" days to make up the Tampa game. I really think they'll do all they can to play this one.

If these two teams have to make it up...they may not need it.

Have a safe game everyone. If it starts with the lightning and the thunder, I certainly will be offline the rest of the night.

That's all anyone has talked about here all day, and it still hasn't gotten more than a bit gusty. People have been talking about taking everything off their patios, strapping down their trampolines, and maybe not taking their kids to Vacation Bible School tonight. I brought in our hammock and my flower pots, and our trampoline is partially buried, so that's it for me. Now I'm wondering if anything will even happen - since this morning I've been reading winds will be up to 50 - 60 mph, then it was 70, now I read 90. We'll see!

No because of the huge storms supposedly on the way with the 65-80mph winds on tap.

Calling the game that early when New York doesn't come to Chicago again this year would be waaaay premature.

The radar has nothing on it right now. Unless something just BLOWS UP out of nowhere this game is fine..

I'm hearing storms developing now after 10.

Lets get a win.

Huh.

A lot of people have trampolines in their yards around here for their kids. In the past, there have several incidents of trampolines blowing out of the yard to another yard and even across the street. So the talk was about anchoring the trampolines down. Our church is having Vacation Bible School for the kiddies this week, and the way people were talking about the crazy winds, they were wondering if attendance would be down tonight. Attendance seemed normal to me, and I'm still not seeing any winds worth mentioning as out of the ordinary.

O/T here, but this year's theme at Vacation Bible School is about being on God's team, and they took pictures of all the kids and turned them into baseball cards for them that they can trade with their friends! So cute! That is, cute for everyone but my 3 y.o. who hates having his picture taken and is a stubborn mule - no pictures or cards for him. :o:

DoItForDan, for clarity I should have added that a few years ago we had a tornado while the VBS classes were in session, and all the kids had to go in the hallway with their teachers, and their parents were most likely at home, which was pretty traumatizing. So that's why people were wondering if they should even take their kids tonight. Almost 9:00, still nothing. That's good with me, but what a big to do about nothing. Although there was something on the news about a tree falling into a house in East Peoria.

You don't call games because there is a chance of some rain later on in the evening.
