I just spent th last hour listening to WEEI and you would think Boston is 9 games behind instead of ahead. Hosts and callers are screaming at how Theo bought 2 stiffs in Drew and Lugo.

Boston has lost 5 of 6 and has really looked dead in Oakland ( always a house of horrors) Boston has now lost 3 games in a row for the first time in 2007 and fans are flocking to the Zakim Bridge...

Blowhard tells fans don't panic

"It was a freak game because if you could look at the box score and not see the line score, you'd think we crushed them. He [DiNardo] walked six guys. He threw 42 strikes and 47 balls. That's one of those games... and I'm happy for Lenny... but the fact of the matter is, you make 30 starts with those numbers, you go 1-29. We hit into some double plays, lined out at some people..." -- 6.6.07, Schilling chimes in during wake up call on WEEI's Dennis and Callahan

Bite me. We're not in a mood for giving out hugs to fans of first place teams.

As the cool kids say, Quoted For Truth.
Losing in Oakland? Find another shoulder to cry on. And STILL 9 games up...
And JD Drew being a stiff? Who knew?

It is a very long year. Both Cleveland and Boston will feel pressure eventually.

Or when you have the worst offense in all of baseball, and in a matter of a few weeks your bullpen goes from above average to the worst. Oh, and almost forgot: suddenly your pitching rotation is inconsistent, as well.

I'm glad the weather here (Phoenix) is cool today...only going to be 97

The outside of Chase Field is massive much more so than Seattle or Milwaukee

True, but I have a feeling some of the old timers out in Beantown can't help having 1978 flashbacks. :o:

(Fenway knows what I'm talking about.)

Should be reasonably nice all weekend. I think you'll particularly enjoy the evenings. But during the days, don't forget the sunblock; that desert sun will fry you even if you don't realize you're being cooked.

nods head............

Yanks have now picked up 6 games in less than 2 weeks ( now 8 1/2 )

I'll say this much, Schilling doesn't hide when he stinks

Not sure how to start or finish this one. Pitch by pitch would most likely be as painful to read as it was to experience.

At the end of the second inning Iíd faced 13 batters, thrown close to 50 pitches, and I didnít feel physically bad at all. We certainly didnít play our sharpest game early but it was an odd start.

Some of you guys are being pretty cruel to him, yeesh. Its not like he posted this in the Sox Clubhouse.

I hope that division does get interesting (like every other division). If for nothing else, it will make me continue to watch some baseball for this year.

Where NYY has really made up ground is in the wild card...now 4 1/2 back

If the White Sox could win 8 in a row they would be back in it as well

The real question is whether they can win 2 in a row.
