Over the next 36 games the Sox will not play a team that currently has a winning record (2 are currently .500).

I hope they can pick it up over this time frame, but chances are they will
go 18-18.

With his first post predicting the Sox will play .500 ball against sub-.500 teams, I'm sure he'll fit right in at WSI.

We're 8-5 against Texas, Tampa Bay, KC, and the Cubs combined. That's not .500 ball, but that's certainly unacceptable given the quality of those teams. It's not much of a stretch IMO to predict something like 20-16 or 21-15 over the next 36. Neither Detroit or Cleveland have tough schedules over the next few series. They don't have it as easy as we do, but I think there's a very good chance they put together a better record over the next stretch than we do while playing against stronger competition.

I'll play this game---I'll just change it to the All Star Break. They have 32 games until the All Star Break. They'll go a pedestrian 18-14, and their record at the break will be 44-42.

Let's say this happens. Then suppose the Sox go 48-28 (0.632) in the "second" half. That leaves them at 92 wins for the season. Still time to get back in it, but will it be enough?

Unfortunately, I'm inclined to agree with you as the Sox have shown a penchant for playing poorly against poor teams. However, I think last night's game has me depressed, and even I'm beginning to think they're running out of time.

The problem is - At bluejaysinteractive and devilrayinteractive they are saying the same thing about playing US

And with the way we've been playing, with good reason too.

Precisely. We're talking about getting well against losing teams, and the losing teams we are playing are getting well against us. Our last 11 games have been against sub-.500 teams. Our record: 3-8.

Well, the Cubs, no matter how ****ty always play us tough. They're like the Twins in how they seem to play flawless baseball when they play us.

Obviously they didn't get the memo that those games don't really matter.

Every day, every game; something can happen. Let them unfold as the baseball gods see fit.

Who are the baseball gods? Dunno, whoever Zambrano, and the rest of the goofies point to.

The Sox have a shot at getting back into it. I have a feeling its going to be a heck of a ride.

That feeling might be indigestion or heartburn. I'd call a doctor immediately.

Ha! They're about 15 games into a streak of *50* games against under-.500 opponents, as it stood when it started. And I believe they have a losing record over the past 15 games.

In repsonse to the original post,
The fans of the teams we are playing are saying the same thing about us..
"We're playing the sox who are below .500.

We cant get rolling against anyone.. In years past even after struggling against a KC or TB we came to play against NY & Boston.. This year it just aint happening so to try to make anything factual out of us playing teams under 500 means nothing.. You dont choose who you beat because of the record or go in thinking, well they are under 500 so we should be able to win..

WE ARE BELOW.500

They should. They're 2-9 in their last 11.

At this point, the only Sox players I can think of that deserve All-Star consideration are Garland and Jenks. Everyone else is mediocre at best. Inexcusable for a team that is loaded with talent.

2-9, all against clubs that enter today's action .500 or below. The best team we have played during this stretch is the Twins, 29-29 as we speak. That weak June schedule we all talked about? We're 2-4 so far. We need a win tonight just to salvage the first week of this so-called "easy month."

Name one position player on this team that deserves to sniff the AS game. Hell, none of our guys should even be in the HR derby that we almost always have at least one person in... 1/3 of our starters might be able to qualify for the futures game however...
