Fenway Park should have had a tent thrown over it, and not just because of the storm clouds that caused the start of last night's 9-5 Red Sox loss to the Bombers to be delayed by 30 minutes. About the only sideshows missing from this one were Zip the Pinhead, Tom Thumb, and Ula, the Painproof Rubber Girl.

There were grown men strutting about, wearing blond wigs and falsies and carrying signs that read, "I'm with A-Rod." Entire sections adjacent to the Yankees' dugout wore little princess Halloween masks. No one was booed louder than Alex Rodriguez, who tossed a ball to a fan in the stands, only to have it flung back on the field.

Saturday's FOX game may get very, very ugly fast. In the bottom of the 9th Scott Procter threw at Kevin Youkilis' head becomming the 5th player hit by a pitch last night. Curt Schilling on WEEI this morning said "I know what I have to do today" so we may see some fireworks.

The game itself was an easy NYY win as Tim Wakefield was thjrowing pitches that even the WSI softball team could hit.

Mrs A-Rod is a happy camper this morning

The public ridicule came hours after the Yankees $252 million man made nice with his wife, Cynthia - spending $6,000 on diamond necklaces for her.

"This is what I like," she told him in the Persona gift shop in the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Boston.

"Go ahead, get them," the stripper-loving slugger urged her, according to a witness.

Thank goodness Boston and the Yankees don't play again for 85 days, we sick of them.

Yankees showing a little pulse......I'm not sure the White Sox want to see them right now

BOB RYAN: Yankees can be happy about this (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/06/04/yankees_can_be_happy_about_this)

You can holler nasty things at him; chant "A-Rod! A-Rod!" all day. You can yell every time there's a popup to third base and hope he drops it, but the bottom line is this: Alex Rodriguez is one great baseball player.

ON BASEBALL (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/06/04/his_play_should_speak_for_itself/)
His play should speak for itself (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/06/04/his_play_should_speak_for_itself/)

Sayonara, Yankees. See you in August. (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/06/04/parting_sweet_not_sorrowful/)
Is anyone else pleased the Red Sox will be playing someone other than the New York Yankees for the next two-plus months?
The schedule has been rather excessive in that regard. Too many Red Sox-Yankees games too close together. Twelve games through June 3. Red Sox-Yankees overload, for sure.
