As for why Fields is playing SS, the starting 2B after Lopez was released (Kenny Perez) came out of the game on Saturday due to injury. They shifted Gonzalez from SS to 2B and moved Fields from 3B to SS. That also explains why Gustavo is playing at 3B now while Wiki is catching.

And I just picked up that we must have just signed Tomas Perez to a minor league deal as he got the start at 2B tonight now that Andy Gonzalez is back up on the big league team. It really sucks that we got rid of a 23 year old in Lopez (who was having an ok year) to sign some over-the-hill middle IF.
