I'd be perfectly happy if we could once again be the hitless wonders.

However it may cause my blood pressure to rise at an unhealthy rate as the season goes on.

In 1906 the White Sox won the AL Pennant in spite of having the league's lowest batting average, IIRC.

Can we do it again?

Another series win for the Sox. Keep it going guys.

Signs of life from some of our hitters - good sign!

Hitting .220 something as a team and only 3.5 out in baseball's toughest division. I can't wait for us to start firing on all cylinders.

I wish we coulda brought in a couple more guys, but that a win is a win...other than last night (and I swear our guys were just gassed then) it looks like the bats are starting to wake up. We're lucky we face a minor league team next time up, so let's sweep 'em and take it from there.

Good series overall.. Offense showed signs in games 1 and 3... pitching is simply incredible!

Couldn't ask for a better way to go into Wrigley.. Sox on a high note.. Scrubs dropping one in heartbreaking fashion at Shea

We never sweep the cubs so let's just take 2 of 3 again... but a sweep would obviously be nice

DYE, IGUCHI, ERSTAD, GARLAND, MACDOUGAL, JENKS!!!.... YES!:)

Now, time to :gulp: and watch the Bulls force a game 7

I couldn't agree with you more... patience is a virture and thank g-d Kenny and Ozzie had it with him...to be honest, in 2004 without Ozzie's confidence boosters to him through the media and by letting him stay in games longer after that one rough inning probably played a big part in turning his career around

For the 2 out of 3 people...not good enough because nobody wins every series. It's time to hit the gas and never look back. They are very capable of winning a lot of games between now and the All Star break. It's time to string 7-8 wins, and have a nice 16-4 stretch.

Great overall game today! I feel really good about the Sox going to the Shrine tomorrow, cubs lost 5 of 7 on their roadtrip so now is the time to kick them while their down.

I really think by the end of the year Erstad will be a very productive member of the White Sox. Even though Sweeny went 0 for 4 today, I'm really excited for him to be with the Sox until Pods is ready, Hopefully they keep him and send Luis to Triple A after the Cubs series.

Jose on Sunday on a limited pitch count, I'm ok with that, but I wouldn't have minded seeing Gio Gonzales make a spot start. Hall to start tomorrow too.

Go Bulls!

Well, for the most part the Sox are doing well against the teams the fans care about winning against the most. Hopefully that will carry through the weekend. Glad JD showed up today. If he stays hot when Thome gets back, the Sox might go on a little bit of a run. The schedule gets pretty light from here through June.

The sad thing is, their .230 batting average (http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1906/UPCHA01906.htm), with pitchers included (Frank Owen - .136, Nick Altrock - .160, Ed Walsh - .141, Doc White - .185), is better than the 2007 team batting average.

Hey, at least I hit the team average.

Just got back from the game. Garland and Danks were awesome and even Contreras was good, when you consider that every Yankee got 4 strikes per AB the entire series. I thought that AJ was going to strangle the home plate ump.

A smattering of folks in Yankees gear. I suspect that the majority were cub fans, since most weren't watching the game. OTOH, they were getting beat down by Garland.

At one point, some idiot in a Cub hat ran down near the CF wall and stated yelling at Cabrera in CF. He was yelling "Hey, Abreu . . . you suck" or something, and got teased mercilessly by the Sox fans sitting nearby as they pointed out that Abreu was playing RF.

Here here. Only stat that matters is the "W" at the end of the day.

Sounds like JD is getting out of his funk. Now if he could just kick Paulie in the rear, we'll be doing fine.

Any reason for Crede being sat today, other than giving him a bit of a rest?

I said it during last season. Jon is one of the most under-appreciated and under-rated pitchers there is. He goes out, throws solid innings, and does his best to keep the game under control so his team can take the lead. When spring training started this season, and all the talk of either Jose or Mark as our "ace" I was saying around work "What about Garland?"

LOL. They are idiots if they fire Torre.

Great pitching by Garland today. MacDougal is the unsung hero. Jeter, Giambi and Rodriguez due up in the eighth, and the side was retired without the ball leaving the infielding. Fantastic work by Mike, and Jenks did his job.

I'm a little disappointed we didn't blow this game wide open. We ****ed up some prime scoring opportunities again. But this pitching was plenty good to make four runs hold up.

The eye opener for me was his start in the ALCS - game 3. He has been real impressive. Today - the star of the game - even if JD had 4 RBIs.

Garland was dominant. Horrible swings, broken bats, half swings and begging looks to the home plate blue. At least a half dozen times AJ holding the frame or delaying throwing the ball back to Garland. That's 27 (?) games out of 37 that the starters go at least 6. Jermaine ripped the ball all day. Good D, great win all around. Now on to the urinal.

I just got back from the game. Garland did great. He got the Yankees to ground into double plays when he needed them to, and JD gave him the offense he needed. Good game.

It's certainly great to see JD getting back in the swing of things, having an outstanding offensively productive game. Hopefully he will continue this, and PK can follow suit. If those two bats can somehow come alive, the sky's the limit as to what this team will be able to do.

I must add that I think Ozzie made the right decision today in batting Iguchi in the 9-spot. Perhaps that might be a great way to get him back to feeling comfortable at the plate, when he's in a lower-stress spot in the lineup. Thumbs up to Ozzie for that move.

As always, it's great whenever Chicago beats New York!

Garland has been simply awesome for nearly a full year now. No reason to be surprised by his success at this point. No reason to think he won't keep it up either.

Good signs of life from Dye today. Hopefully the same will come from Konerko and Crede very soon.

Great win!

Good game, great to get the series win. I love Jon, got out of some jams nicely.

Funny that Mackowiak comes out to 'This is why I'm cold'

In the post game Ozzie said he's starting Contreras Sunday, kind of surprised he went that route

Once again I'm worried about that Jenks.

His control is still an issue because his pitch count soared into the double digits (10) and only 7 were strikes!

Let's make a trade straight up: Dempster (with a career 67 saves) for Jenks (only 60 saves).
