View Full Version : Would it be too much of a STRETCH?

The Cubbies have had Cardinals broadcaster Jack Buck “sing” the 7th inning stretch. And if I remember correctly they have had at least one other opposition broadcaster "sing" the 7th inning stretch. Well from what I understand Chicago broadcasting legend Ken "The Hawk" Harrelson will be at Wrigley on Friday & Sunday broadcasting the games for ComCast and then WGN.

Do John McDonuts and the Cubbies have the (guts) to at ask Ken "THE HAWK" Harrelson if he would sing the 7th inning STRETCH this weekend? As a Sox fan, would you want THE Hawk to do it?

CAN YOU PUT ON THE BOARD?

No

I think Cubs fans would be hurling any kind of food or drink they could get their hands on at the broadcast booth.

I couldn't care less. The whole "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" schtick at the Urinal is beyond lame.

There is NO WAY that will ever happen. But it would be cool to hear Hawk sing "...root, root, root for the WHITE SOX" at the urinal.

but then you would have Santo singing at The Cell

On a similar note the Red Sox have invited 96 year old Bob Sheppard to work one game at Fenway when the Yankees come in next month and in turn Carl Beane will work a game at the Stadium..should be fun

No thanks. It's one thing to butcher "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" and it's another to butcher "God Bless America."

The only time anyone Sox related got to sing the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley was at the crosstown series a couple years back. They let Minnie Minoso sing a duet with Ernie Banks. Two very classy representatives of their respective teams. One of the few times the Cubs didn't make a mockery of the whole "tradition".

I completely agree that the schtick is lame. That said though, if they can have a Cardinals broadcaster and then a Reds broadcaster do it then the least they should do is offer to THE Hawk that he do it too.

Even though he isn't a broadcaster, I remember Tommy Lasorda singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at Wrigley as well.

lasorda was funny. not only was he tone deaf, but he told cub fans to "wait till next year"! All the while the dodgers were inching closer to a playoff berth.
