If your are rolling your eyes at alcohol bans, you might consider that wives are not the cause of spousal abuse. Judges I've talked to have agreed that in most domestic violence cases, a major factor is substance abuse, mostly alcohol. I don't know if that's the case here. I do know alcohol was a factor in Sammy Sosa's assault of his pre-trophy-wife wife

True, but that initial substance abuse is usually a result of the wife.

Real men don't hit women.

I work with a lot of women who left abusive relationships and it sickens me hearing what they went through. Unfortunately many remain in these situations or go back to the abuser. It's a devastating cycle of control and manipulation, not to mention the emotional problems.
