May 10, 1910 - Sox 3rd baseman Bill Purtell becomes the first big league player to strike out twice in the same inning. Washington’s Walter Johnson gets him twice in the 6th inning. Between Purtell’s outs, the Sox batted around and wound up winning the game 10 - 3.

May 10, 2002 - It was the worst defeat in the history of the franchise as on this night in Anaheim the Sox got obliterated 19 - 0. Danny Wright, Matt Ginter and Mike Porzio were the pitchers the Angels clubbed apart.

I miss Danny and his great 9 walks per game minimum.

The fun thing about Danny is you were all but guaranteed to see a bases-loaded situation sometime during his start.

2002: 1.9 K/BB
2003: 1.02 K/BB
2004: .54 K/BB

God those are horrid.

I remember I was sick with food poisoning that night in 02 and didn't see any of the game. When I asked my brother the next day how the Sox did and he said they lost 19-0, I promptly :puking: again.

I had successfully blocked that game out of my memory until today.
My favorite Fun Fact about Dan Wright: his career high for victories in a season is the same as Carrie Woods's (14).

It's a wonder that we got 14 wins out of his 5.18 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 32 home runs allowed and 1.9 K/BB.

I was 16 at the time of this game and was the manager of my baseball and had to keep score of my high school games. To practice, I started keeping score of White Sox games here and there. Unfortunately, I picked this game to keep score of. But damn it I was able to score the entire game and it might be the ugliest score sheet I've ever seen. At least in high school we had the mercy rule...

Thanks Lip for bringing up memories of a game we all had suppressed. I must now find some anti-depressants.

That was during that west coast trip where the Sox got slapped around in most games (I remember Oakland drubbing the Sox on that road trip too). I could be wrong, though. But given our history on the west coast, it all kind of runs together. Didn't KW go balistic in the clubhouse during the road trip?

Now, I must pop in the White Sox World Series DVD for recovery therapy.
