The White Sox have worn numbers on their jerseys since the 1931 season. I thought it would be interesting and fun to try and do a few simple trivia questions.

This will probably spark some discussion about the players who wore these jersey numbers so here goes:

1.) What is the highest number ever worn by a White Sox player during the regular season? (Those high numbers that are worn by young players during ST do not count.)

2.) Who was the last White Sox player to wear #42 BEFORE it was retired in 1997?

3.) The #13 is an EXTREMELY unlucky number in the eyes of baseball players....How many White Sox players have worn it in the 75+ years that the Sox have used jersey numbers? (for extra credit name those players.)

4.) Who wore the unlucky number above^^^ right before and right after Ozzie Guillen?

5.) What hard-nosed White Sox pitcher wore the same number as Joe Crede during the 1959 WS season and beyond?

There you have it.....feel free to add to the trivia or to bring up your favorite discussion or stories about the White Sox and their jersey numbers.

What was your favorite jersey number on a White Sox player? I'd have to say mine was good old #72.

The answer to #4 is still Albert Belle with 49 in '98 unfortunately. Jimmy will break it this year, though.

1.) The highest number ever worn by a White Sox player in the regular season was the #73 by none other than Tony Phillips.

2.) The last player to wear #42 for the White Sox before it was retired in 1997 was Scott Ruffcorn.

3.) According to the book "Now batting Number......." which has a list of every team and their numbers a total of 6 players have worn the #13 for the White Sox.

That's not a lot of players considering the fact they've been wearing #'s for 75+ years. I don't have the book in front of me so I'll post the names of the players later.

4.) Harry Chappas and Antonio Ozuna wore #13 before and after ozzie Guillen respectively.

5.) Early Wynn wore #24 for the 1959 White Sox.

Yeah, that sounds right. Thanks for the correction.

And for the other people, it's Pablo Ozuna and Antonio Osuna.

I think they should have retired it for Mike Caruso. Wonder what he's doing with his life now at 30?

I believe that Frank hit his 400th home run against Tampa Bay. I was at the game, it was a Friday night game.

Question: What number did Ross Gload wear last year?
Enough of the man-crush already! Gload was a bench player who needed to get on a crap team to crack a starting lineup. This is just as bad as the ARow love-fest.
